This process is akin to Big Brother elimination nights. F**king get on with it.

Quite right.

Sooner it's done, the sooner oil and gas reliance for energy generation becomes a thing of the past and the less damage will be inflicted for the next few generations to deal with.

Fact Slap  ·

Fact Slap 👋
Westminster Airport.
In the 1930s, air travel was really beginning to erm well take off. It was decided that London needed an airport in the city to be part of this new transport boom. A few ideas were submitted from putting a landing strip on the roof of Waterloo Station to a huge cartwheel airport built above King's Cross station. Another idea was to fly seaplanes off the Thames in the docks but due the amount of shipping this would be problematic.
The solution? Go up river and build a huge structure straddling the river that could operate without disrupting the vital docks. Amazingly the best location found for this was just outside the Houses of Parliament where the river is straight. The design was simple, a huge flat top supported like roof structure with a hangar deck beneath, huge lifts inside the legs would take passengers up from the ground or river terminal up to the departure lounge, then board the aircraft and that would then be lifted up by elevator to the flight deck for take off.
Not surprisingly, the idea was abandoned due to objections from MPs and new airfields at Croydon, Gatwick and Heathrow were identified were identified as better potential. Had it been built it's likely it wouldn't have survived WW2 and if by some miracle it had survived it would have been obsolete due to its short runway. It wouldn't be until 1987 that London got an airport near the city, built on the very docks that caused the Westminster Airport to be designed in the first place.

I’m on the beach now, anyone know why my iPhone randomly goes from bright screen to dark and back every now and again?

You've probably got auto brightness on. It adjusts the screen based on the light it senses. Move it slightly out of direct sunlight and it'll go darker, and vice versa.

Check your settings.

I misunderstood your post at first, and thought you were hoping for over a thousand dead. Now I see that you want to kill "only" half a dozen or so.

Ad Astra Per Aspera.

I would hope that everyone who makes that journey knows the formidable risks involved, and should the worst happen, they'll be remembered, whoever they are or were.

I've never really been into this field but found myself disappearing down a Brian Cox YouTube rabbit hole this evening.

What a great bloke.

The fact that Sir David Attenborough considers him his natural successor pretty much tells you all you need to know.

Superb science communicator.

Yay. Way to go, humanity!

...not to worry, it's not the responsibility of humanity that this is happening and we really don't need all the biodiversity when the real objective should be maximising self-interest and economic output.

....right?

And this is since we've had an organisation in place trying to stop it.

Imagine what would've happened without the WWF, RSPB, NWT and the like.

Definitely Chinas fault. Or Russia’s. Or both. As well as being supported by North Korea, somehow. For sure need to start producing more weapons to combat all this.

Absolutely. Double the "defense" budget immediately.

By sheer coincidence all my friends on the gold course today own companies in this sector and they all tell me this is a good idea..

Anyone got the AirPods with noise reduction?  Any good?

I’ve got the 2nd gen AirPods Pro and they’re absolutely fantastic. The noise cancellation is very impressive, particularly if you’re playing something through them. The transparency and adaptive modes are also great, you can quite easily forget you have them in it’s such natural sound.

This should become part of any planning application for car parking.

I can see what you mean but I doubt companies will want the extra expense of building roofing on top of buying and renovating the land for parking. Not to mention powering it all up and maintaining it.

Unless the electric/charging companies are the ones buying the land to convert it into charging/parking at the same time.
