It's one game so what!!!....it's not going to hurt any young players potential game time.

The most capped and highest goal scorer....And you still get moaners....ffs.

Hey..it was the FA who put it on the table not Rooney..The bad thing it's become a media farce.now an FA farce

Turning a simple idea into catastrophic spinning wheel of fear of presentation!!

Too much cynicism!!!!  Virus in the Brit-make-up....relax!!! sport is for entertainment.

Sometimes social media Posters, act like the 1st WWar generals....everybody dressed up for convenience then sent to the front to get slaughtered!!!

What is wrong with the world. So much crap going on and the Righteous Police have to jump on the bandwagon to slag off Rooney.

It's a meaningless game of football, Rooney was a great player for his country, Show him a bit of respect.

Personally think anyone having a go at him needs to have a word with him/herself and get a life.

What a strange society we are becoming in Europe.

Has David Silva even been that big a player for Spain? I always had him down as the unlucky one who if born at nearly any other point would've been one of the first names on their team sheet but he just happened to be around when Xavi & Iniesta were too.

Await someone telling me he's got about 80 caps now.

Just googled it. 125 caps lol what the ****!!!

Still, what a shit idea.

I don’t think most people are bothered about him playing as such it’s more to do with him getting an official cap in what you describe as a meaningless game of football.

Rooney is one of England's greats. Everyone has this illusion that he failed at international level - yet no one talks about the teams he played in. He was at his peak when no one around him was anywhere near his level.

To be a record holder for England and United can't be bad. He deserves to be sent off playing in front of the fans.

Maybe but should he get a cap for it?

It is debatable- but in a game that means nothing and for a player so special for England, personally I think it is deserved. Had he not retired and with his form atm - he would be 5th/6th imo in the current line of strikers so not too far away from a call up anyway.
