KingsX Posted 25 August 2017 Posted 25 August 2017 Today FiveThirtyEight.com topped off their new football statistics by unveiling world club rankings. The famous Leicester City debut at number 68: south of Ajax, but north of Anderlecht. The top ten: Claudio’s Nantes at 98. Young Boys 114, Old Boys 258. Derby 242 and Forest a lowly 317. Heroic Chapacoense 198. Sorry Spacemunky, your Toronto FC down at 171 -- but still ahead of Huddersfield 173 and Wolves 258. etc etc … This list is built on a thin scaffold of statistics and data points, trying to square up apples with oranges. But their track record is of refining their models into some of the best team rankings in American sports, and it will be interesting to see what they do with the world’s most popular sport. In the meantime … a quality time waster which can be visited in between refreshing crap transfer threads here. It will be updated after each match to ensure addictive potential. No comment on their methodology or results. If interested start on https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/global-club-soccer-rankings/ and nose around.

KingsX Posted 8 August 2018 Author Posted 8 August 2018 Going into the new season, here is the table down through us at #69. NB: It's based on past results and advanced stats, not on rosters/transfers. So should shake up quite a bit over the next couple months. The rest of the Prem: - Newcastle 78 - Southampton 85 - Everton 87 - Watford 98 - Burnley 99 - Bournemouth 110 - West Ham 112 - BHA 130 - Fulham 134 - Wolves 152 - Huddersfield 174 - Cardiff 185 https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/global-club-soccer-rankings/
Ted Maul Posted 9 August 2018 Posted 9 August 2018 What on earth is this based on? 11 places below Palace
MC Prussian Posted 9 August 2018 Posted 9 August 2018 I can't wait to use the phrase "We're the 69th best club in the world" on this forum as often as I can.
KingsX Posted 2 August 2019 Author Posted 2 August 2019 New rankings going into the season. There was some kind of a reset over the summer, and the Prem clubs moved up. 26th is our highest ranking since they started this, Seems too high for sure, but 26th in the world ... I want to believe! https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/global-club-soccer-rankings/
