Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 I do feel for Shakey. He has the hardest possible start to a season you could have. Add to that his squad seems to be littered with niggly injuries. Not to mention the Silva situation. I hope he comes through this period because he is an honest coach. His management credentials are being tested but it is not an easy situation for any manager regardless of experience.
mozartfox Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 Shakey is actually in a slightly better position now if things were to go wrong on the pitch. He is currently a mid-fielder short through no fault of his own. If the DoF removes a cog from the machine and it does nut run very well thereafter, it possibley gives the Manager some form of a defense. So if we are struggling come Christmas, I hope the correct individual(s) are binned including Jon Teflon 'if' he or his staff are in any way culpable for this screw-up.

Problem is I don't think he's got a wise head alongside him. I am not sure about Appleton. I think he can be rightly frustrated by Silvagate, as he believed like we all did that he would need a replacement before Drinky left. To be honest I think is furious he's just good at not showing it in public, Now we are woefully short in a key area, and this is made worse by Iborra's injury. In fact we are suffering from a number of niggly injuries including Nacho's. I am a also concerned about the Gray/Albrighton/Mahrez situation and whether to play a big man upfront alongside Vardy. I think we have to assess the defence of the teams we're up against and decide whether it's Shinji or Slim/Ulloa. If there's a weakness in central defence and in the air then maybe play the big fellas but we need Albrighton's crossing ability for that too. if not and we need a harry them to get the ball then Shinji is our best option for the first hour.
ben_lcfc Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 I think the problem is Appleton - never rated him as a manager or coach! ...AND certainly didn't want him anywhere near our club before he came!!! (Is he the reason for our decline?)
AylestoneRaider Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 I think Shakey was a good appointment and has done reasonably well so far, but.....I do think his tactics are a bit one dimensional. The only time ive really seen him try anything adventurous was the 2nd Half Vs Athletico. I do like the guy and I hope he does well, but I'm concerned that just being a "safe pair of hands" might not be enough.

Or putting three up top at HT today? I think he shows a lot of promise tactically. He is quick to react, but at the minute he has limited tools to work with.
GaelicFox Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 Sorry but I have to say the manager is BANG AVERAGE !!!! He is so nieve lads ! Pearson in disguise

Perhaps I'm being harsh, I just feel King being brought on in place of an attacking player is unlikely to turn the tide against a top side. we need a contingency involving 3 at the back to give us more options in my opinion. We can't solely rely on defending deep and countering.

elvisfmcfly Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 He'll be gone by Christmas! Uninspiring none ambitious appointment, out of his depth.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 9 September 2017 Posted 9 September 2017 Lost against Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea and people are saying Shakey isn't good enough even though he kept us up when Ranieri was taking us down. Pretty sure the only reason people don't like him is because he's English and would prefer some chump like De Boer in even though they don't have a clue.

First off, who has said they don't like Shakespeare? Second off; how likely, I mean really likely, is it that those questioning his ability as a manager are doing so solely because he is English? I suspect it is not likely at all. Do you not these concerns may have more to do with his insistence of playing 4-4-2 against every opposition, or his baffling substitutions (strikers brought on when we are winning and taken off when we are losing)?
On our way... Posted 10 September 2017 Posted 10 September 2017 I have thought for a while I've seen this story before... After the sacking of Leicester managerCraig Levein, following 18 months in charge, Kelly stepped up from his Assistant Manager role to take control on a caretaker basis. In his first ten games in charge his team took 21 points from a possible 30, steering the side up the Championship table and away from the threat of relegation to League One. He was awarded the Championship Manager of the Month award for March 2006. This followed wins over relegation rivals Hull City and Millwall, as well as victory against Luton Town and a creditable draw against Premiership-boundReading. In recognition of his achievements, on 14 April 2006 he signed a one-year rolling contract, confirming his status as manager. On 11 April 2007 Kelly was sacked due to a poor run of results, his final game being a 3–0 defeat away to Plymouth Argyle. He was replaced by Nigel Worthington until the end of the season
