Old Fox Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 This topic might be a bit churlish and some may say they support the team irrespective but i think the next 6 games are massive for Shakey. Saturday is significant in that can we start pulling off results against the Top 6! I believe the jury is still out on his step up and I do feel very sorry for him in that he has inherited quite a lot of noise as the team starts to break up. It was inevitable that the Top players have their heads turned as they have every right to want to win things and I think we missed the boat in the preseason 16-17 and have not been able to bridge the gap to the Top 6 clubs yet. However, the management of Mahrez, Gray, Slimani, Musa and Ulloa alone will be challenging and how or if he can keep them happy and performing could be the difference between us being competitive or not. Silva situation does not help him either. I also believe tactically he has something to prove and finding ways to take on the big boys even if we do not beat them all is a challenge he faces...United away for me was a bit disappointing in that we could have had a bit more ambition on the break and I am a bit concerned that he is conservative but time will tell. I think he has his hands full and it would test any manager with experience let alone a new manager plus his relationship as a coach with some of the lads before becoming the No.1 also makes it tricky. Hopefully he has the grit to sit them down to be clear on expectations or drop high profile players if necessary. Whatever happens he has had a bloody tough start with the fixtures, the transfer window and the fall out from it so I hope he can really succeed and starting Saturday get behind him 100% as I am slightly concerned he is on a hiding to nothing.....
VLC86 Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 I was going to boooo him to be honest, glad you made it clear we need to support someone who has done nothing wrong.
Fox92 Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 Rallying call already? Everybody is behind him. Yes there's criticism on here, rightly so at times, but ultimately we're all behind the current manager. I don't know why you would think any differently.
norwichfox Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 Would feel more inclined to offer my support if we were top of the table and he was less inclined to play the old guard so much, looking forward to getting Sven back....

SheppyFox Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 Until he starts making stupid decisions I'll support him

Melbourne Fuchs Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 When Shakey took over we were public enemy number one, the media and most of the public wanted to see us fail after sacking Claudio. Despite the pressure, Shakey oversaw a tremendous run of victories that included memorable wins over Liverpool and Sevilla. He was then very unlucky with injuries to almost all of our central midfielders and defenders and a series of dodgy decisions such as Albrighton's non-penalty against Atletico and Vardy's wrongly disallowed goal v Bournemouth but still managed to achieve Champion's League Quarter Finals and a mid-table finish. My only concerns going into this season are matters outside of his control like leaving Silva's signing too late and giving Ulloa a new contract. I wouldn't have minded seeing him experiment some more in pre-season and he needs to improve his substitutions but otherwise I can't see how anyone wouldn't be 100% behind Shakey at the moment.
the fox Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 He doesn't need our support, he needs a CM and a backup RB.

MPH Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 My concern is that the players don't respect him as their manager. They like him they value him as a coach but it doesnt appear any of the big guns have any faith in him as they all seem to want to jump ship!
foxinsocks Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 Face it, shakes is a nice guy but with little authority - he saw how they treated the last guy and he is just trying to keep things going until a dip in form means he is offed.

Yes that was his first, once it's consistent I'll call for his head, I hold no sentimentality for anyone in football
Sir Shep Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 I can take losing so long as we don't capitulate (like Arsenal) or make odd subs (like Arsenal) or go to grounds where basically we always love to concede a late winner undoing our hard work (like Arsenal). So really I'll support him unless we are playing Arsenal.
