Gillette Soccer Saturday used to be a lot better when it had Matt Le Tissier, Phil Thompson & Charlie Nicholas as pundits.

Who's normally on it now?

I think they were replaced by Tim Sherwood, Clinton Morrison & Sue Smith.

Morrison isn't too bad, but can't stand Sherwood.

Thought the three who were apparently sacked (for whatever reason, but it sounds strange all three went at once) couldn't be any better as both individuals and together in being pundits.

Is Robbie Savage still on BT Sport on matchdays? Don't mind him, either.

As a former pub manager, I can guarantee you that there is no way to keep a keg of Guinness or lager better than anyone else.

You whack it in a cellar and that's it.

Even line cleaning is pretty standard and wouldn't make a difference.

Agree partly...from a qualified ex-cellarman > Everards/Ruddles/Fullers

Even though Pipe cleaning Quality depends a lot on the difference between the concientious & lazy/lackadaisical   cellarmam/Landlord

Poor Tapping ( First Opening the barrel & letting it sit..hard/sort plugs) can also be a problem..

Knowing your Cask,Barrel,Keg & differences thereof..

Also the difference between modern pub manager & Landlord...

Completely agree. Years ago, the DWP were supporting with HGV licences and being unemployed at the time, I figured that it would a good way to earn some money to go to university. I got a class 1 licence, but for a year worked at Park Royal on the dray wagons. The white coats and QC managers in the brewery and the trad landlords and freehouses were neurotic about the handling of Guinness in particular. We were individually trained for the product. The branded 'pub managers' were an emerging breed and it was astonishing how many were completely ignorant of correct storage, gas, mix, pressure/static, rotation, labelling, tapping and constant temperature. Landlords had pride and personal investment in their service and often invested in the highest quality fit for purpose lines that were cooled and had oxygen barrier layers. They would also match stock to demand and orders would be closely controlled and based on consumption. They also employed staff that knew how to pour a pint.

And yes, you really can taste the difference.

If people who have chosen to not have the covid jab, die of covid, I don't care

I still think it’s sad

we’ve all made mistakes, all jumped to wrong conclusions all had things come back and bite us on the bum but to die from a mistake or wrong conclusion or by underestimating something is still sad to me.

True to some extent ,but some of these people try to persuade others not to have the jab or may infect others and kill them

I think you are correct and more informed than me, it is sad that for whatever reason they are putting themselves and others in danger

Misinformation on matters of science, as in this example here, isn't taken seriously enough when the cost is both very evident and high.

That's my perhaps not unpopular opinion.

It is called unpopular opinions you hold, I haven't asked you to have them. I think they are selfish idiots to be honest, so I don't see why I should care about them. Id rather they didn't die of course

Fine to think what you want but to say that was rather childish tbh.

Do people who say they care really care though?

We're going about our daily business without giving it much thought atm. People seem to have come to terms with the deaths, and one of the reasons for that is that many of the deaths are amongst the unvaccinated. It's somewhat inconsistent for the non-vaxed to be so blasé about the risks of Covid that they forgo the vaccine, then complain that people are apathetic over unvaccinated deaths.

So I guess Claridge is just articulating what a lot of us deep down think.

I realise it sounds cold and I probably wouldn't have put it as bluntly as Claridge. Maybe my definition of 'care' is narrower than some others.
