We had less recovery time between matches than any other Premier League club.

Jose and Pep might've had something to say about that if it had've been their clubs in our position.

Thought we have the same fitness coaches (Matt Reeves and Tom Joel) and physio department (headed by Dave Rennie) as we did under Nige.

This is correct according to the club website. The same core physio and sports science team have been at the club for years now.

15/16 was a freak season for injuries. We hadn't found a clever way to avoid injuries altogether, we just got a lot of good luck.

The way some of them played last season I think they had spent to long in the cryo chamber.

It was the come down from the great performance enhancing injections from the previous year!

Morgan basically did the splits, doesn't matter how fit he is his not made for performing the splits, not surprised he's injured. Simpson a long sprint and something went, that happens in football. Don't think our sports science team can do anymore!

Certainly you wouldn't expect to see Wes on Strictly?

Me too, that's why I wondered if anything had changed, it might be the same team but are they held in the same regard? The sports science team can only recommend players are rested the manager makes the final call, I remember stories of the players being given light training throughout most of the back end of the 15/16 season to manage the wear and tear. That only works if the manager and coaches are on board with that. One of the rumours about Ranieri's tenure was by the end of it he was ignoring the advice of the sports science team and pushing on with full tilt training. Probably to try and arrest the slump we were in. It was also rumoured to be a factor in  his sacking. Anyone know if Puel is a big sports science fan? Or a hard task master on the training ground?

We did have a clever way to avoid injuries, light training and maximise recovery time in the cryo-chamber, there were constant news stories and articles about how successful we were in managing the players wear and tear.

This is the same Wes Morgan that played a full season, 2 international tournaments over the summer and then was ever present in a title winning team. Obviously these things can catch up with you, but to have 2 players like Morgan and Simpson who are virtually never injured just makes me wonder if we could be something better.

It's the clubs' fault in agreeing to have the money for television rights in return for these tight schedules to happen.

The club's and obviously BT, Sky etc win at the expense of the dedicated football club fan base.

But the FA can't intervene to lessen it next time, in case the national game loses millions of £.

We love the money..and   the clubs p1ss it all away chopping and changing players.   Nb  our sky money doesnt seem to make our clubs better..

Anyway.   The reason for the festive fixtures and for the extended season is all the intl breaks.  Again having a week long get together doesnt seem to make England perform better. When i grew up players played for their club on sat and for england mid week.... and we won the world cup.

One thought though..  the xmas fixtures stretch even the the big clubs.  Man city are too far ahead already.  The xmas fixtures may be a useful test

Players should be able to play 10 games in 31 days without problems. It simply means replacing training with matches ( which they'll enjoy more). This is nothing to what NBA players go through for 9 months.

Yeah, but they're only playing netball or whatever it is aren't they.

Me mum could do that.

FYI -- granted this is not something that addresses the "now"; the present is ever-evolving, situations with all their uncertainties being addressed in real time.
