We now have 34 points this season on the 20th of January.

Last season we were on 33 points on the 4th of April before beating Sunderland 2-0.

Fantastic to go into the last 14 games in such a good position compared to last season. Lets hope we can now make sure we are the clear "Best of the rest" and secure 7th place and qualify for Europe and maybe have a good cup run.

besides winning the fa cup, wouldn't we need to come 6th for Europe?

Think it depends who wins the FA Cup and/or League cup but West Ham qualified finishing 7th a few years ago.

Indeed. We are actually playing football for a change.

And today I actually felt confident we'd see the game out. Not often i can say that about a City side.

The biggest and most important difference for me.

I know it's a bit slow at times for some, but personally I really enjoy watching us play. We are becoming a team that can control games and that will mean that we consistently pick up points versus the bottom 10 teams. It provides a stable foundation to grow the club and team for the future.

I’ll honeslty never forget how Puel evolved this squad, no matter what happens after this season.

I hope we have a serious challenge in the Cup, and finish 7th, with luck we’ll qualify for Europe :)

Can somebody produce a sticky thread showing the different permutations for the Europa league? I'm lazy and forgetful and need something to refer to.

If both cup finals are top 5 vs top 5 then 7th qualifies for Europe, if a finisher outside of the top 4 wins the Champions League (ie. Spurs or Chelsea perhaps), or if Arsenal finish outside of the top 4 and win the Europa league.

I think.

We are way better than we were at any stage last season.

We play better football, we don't look venerable every time opposition come forward and our depth is looking better (ie look at the quality we have in midfield with Iborra/Silva/Ndidi/James).

On this calendar weekend we lost 3-0 at Southampton (whatever happened to their manager?). The 24th match was a 3-0 loss to Man United which left us in 16th place on 21 points.

Those six weeks from Middlesbrough to Swansea with one point, no goals scored and 12 in our net were truly hideous.
