My ratings above

Puel - 8 -  for the original team selection, blending youth with experience and fringe players with first team regulars. Giving Diabate the chance to shine. Player repaid his faith. Subs in the 2nd half were well-timed and the correct ones to see the game out/kill the game.

Hamer - 7 - did what he had to with a lot of the crosses that Peterborough sent in. Not giving him all the blame for the goal as it should have been cleared by Benalouane OR Simpson, as well as the latter blocking his view.

Maguire, Benaloune, Simpson - all 7 - standard performance from most. Kept their main players (Maddison, Marriott, Lloyd) quiet for majority of the game. Only criticism out of the 3 would be Benny not defending properly from the setpiece that led to their goal. Got caught the wrong side of the defender.

Fuchs - 8 gets extra than the other 3 defenders for the sublime cross for Iheanacho. Strikers love that kind of service. Fuchs delivered.

Iborra - 6 - slightly underwhelming from him. The early booking didn't really help his cause and that was probably on his mind.

Silva - 7 - topsy-turvy performance. Most of the time it was positive, linking well with Diabate and getting the assist for him. I like how positive he is in his play, getting forward when possible. At times he did lose the ball though. One time it could have led to a goal but he recovered very well to block their attempt.

Diabate - 9 - he probably couldn't have wished for a better debut and he probably couldn't have, either. Mentioned in the match thread that it could have been so much more difficult in the circumstances (away at a lower league side in the Cup, on TV, potential banana skin etc). Didn't seem to faze him though and he took his goals well. Very happy with how much promise he's shown today. Reminds me of when Mahrez came on to the scene. Hope he keeps it up!

Gray - 5 - I like that he found space well and got in to good positions. What I wasn't a fan of today was what he did when he found those moments and positions. Either the wrong decision made or when the right one was made, it wasn't executed properly. He had one deflected shot as the stand out other than the saved shot which led to Diabate's 2nd.

Barnes - 4 - might seem a bit harsh but he wasn't very productive today despite some earlier promise. 2 chances he's had to slot in, both against League One opposition, and he's failed to deliver.

Iheanacho - 9 - more goals for him which is exactly what's required when you're brought in to the side in these games. Both goals very well taken and hopefully, if selected, he can show himself in the Premier League.

Given the ref four more for his linesman - diabate was miles offside (not complaining mind).

7s all round, professional performance, except for diabate (9), nacho (8) and Barnes (6). Diabate was fantastic, nacho did everything you'd ask of him. Barnes was poor compared to rest, lost the ball a bit through bad decision making.

Hamer: 6 - Never fills me with confidence, a few dodgy kicks but did his job

Simpson: 7 - Dependable as ever.

Benalouane: 7 - Didn't look shakey for once.

Maguire: 7 - Solid

Fuchs: 8 - Great ball for Iheancho's second.

Diabate: 9 - MOTM. Caused problems all game, very composed.

Iborra: 6 - Sloppy, worst game in a Leicester shirt.

Silva: 7 - Classy as usual.

Gray: 5 - Some of his decision making is awful, reminds me of last season. Trying too hard to get back in the team.

Barnes: 5 - Didn't do an awful lot.

Iheanacho: 9 - Would've been MOTM if he wasn't subbed. Very clever footballer, uses his body well and two good finishes.

Hamer  7  Did OK..Not a great keeper but not the worst either

Simpson  7  Reliable defending  ..but never looks comfortable with the ball at his feet

Maguire  8 Solid

Benaluoane 7 Frustating..does really well for 95 per cent of a game then has a another lapse of concentration...

Fuchs  7  Can play at this level in his sleep..probably a yard or two slower than he once was though.

Gray  7  Did ok...seems to have lost confidence with his shooting

Silva  7  Looks like hes getting used to the pace of the English game.

Barnes  7  Like his attitude, never tries to hide during a game prepared to make mistakes.

Iborra  7  Streetwise ..took one for the team with his booking...

Ineahacho 8  Greedy so and so should have passed to Barnes,,,then it curled into the corner of the net !

Diabate 8 Loved his Toe punt for the first ...reminded me of Romario

Puel  8  Good selection and set up.

After a 5-1 I give all the team an 8 because of the final score . Two players should be more : 9 iniacho 2 goals ( 2 others at the last game makes him best player in the cup 4 in two matches ) the new coming get 10 not easy to start and get two goals he was magic

I find it bizarre that people seem to think Silva had a decent game.

I don't doubt that he's a quality player and is rusty due to his lack of games but I thought he had a poor match.

He was caught in possession over and over again. On a few occasions it directly led to Peterborough having a chance.

He did get the assist for the first but other than that I thought he was poor.

I imagine if somebody like King had a similar match he would have been slated and come out with an overall rating of 4. Silva will come out with 7+ no probs.

I think some of us have a set idea of what a player is like and find it hard to see past that.

Once again, I don't doubt that Silva is a great player but that doesn't mean he automatically has great games.

King didn't seat 4 months without playing and he's generally criticized for playing too safe (aka backwards) and rarely bringing the ball forward. No point comparing them.

I agree that he didn't have a great game though, especially in the second half.

He might have given the ball away a bit but that’s because he takes risks. For me he played well. Kingy would’ve probably come out with a better passing accuracy if he’d played but he would likely get 4-5 out of 10 because he doesn’t influence the game. The tendency for King to wall pass it back to where it came from is a big reason for this lack of influence. Silva and Iborra controlled the centre mid against posh, playing quick positive football. It ruined posh’s Pressing game and helped us take control.

Watched the match again today, and Silva was constantly pushing up and linking with the front three in the first half.  I felt like the desert was finally getting some rain.

Don't know if he's ready for 90 minutes against PL-quality opposition, but I am encouraged.

I see what you're saying but I don't feel like the reason Silva got tackled so often was because he was taking risks more that he was quite slow in possession. Dawdling on the ball a bit.

This is obviously due to his lack of game time so I'm not trying to make out he's rubbish or anything.

I'm glad he's been playing in these cup matches as he obviously needs to get some games under his belt to get him up to speed.

I have no doubt he will be a great player for us but just find it strange that a lot of people seem to think he had a great game.

 Maybe I'm being to critical.
