The Ask Italian place on Silver Street has been taken over by the guys from Gadabout and Tonne. Think it should be open before Xmas.

Tree House Oak-aged ESB is better than any bitter I had this spring while in London.

You have to say what a day on the sauce it's been with @Tilley - will declare right here right now though that the Old Fountain is on its arse after being a half of famer for us both. Sutton Arms class, the Wenlock HOH MA GOD SIMPLY GOATED even the George and Monkey near Kings X was full of brunettes dressed like Johnny Bravo, hate to say it but your boy was in DreamLand

nice weather and a good result ensured Leicester was the busiest I’d seen it in a good while.

Oddly went Walkabout - now I tell you what it’s better than Distillery and any other chain in the city. Tellies galore. A real solid effort for somewhere which should be shockingly shite.

R&D was busting, good to see

Went in the Volley near Old St yesterday for the second half of Palace / Liverpool, was previously the Drafthouse / Brewdog before they sodded off. Pretty decent selection of keg and a good crowd, tidy place to watch the football if you're ever that way

A pint of banshee ipa (Everards Ltd edition) in the Bradgate today..... Banging to be honest.

Also had a pint of Titanic Stout which is so much better than Guinness.

Hearing people ask for a Guinness and decide Morretti would be a better replacement than a titanic made me cringe.

Ultimate cringe is walking past a pub that has a board out front advertising it has Carling, John Smith, Stella, and Strongbow.

So why exactly should I go in?

Match report from the weekend

Stoke Newington - pre match

Jolly Butchers - had a good name, but zero atmosphere, barmen banter of the lowest form. Wasn’t impressed

Auld Shiellagh - The Devonshire before it came along. Superb

Kentish Town - post match

Southampton Arms - excellent as always.

The Pineapple - good crowd in here, hidden away, a strange format but the beers deduct some points.

Sunday

(combined with dinner) - The Plimsoll Finsbury Park. Quite simply 10/10 grub. A burger sent from heaven, pasta from the kings. Steady Rolling Man on tap. Bit of celeb spotting. Welcome to heaven.

Queens Head, X Cross - lovely pint of light bulb to kill some time.

A real winner of a weekend which has reignited the need to continue awaydays.

Scored very high on the MTWG B.B.B.B scale. Brunette, Bob haircut, Boots and Beer

You've inspired me to restart my "data research" on my London pubs website, in particular around Camden/Kentish Town. Not quite a comprehensive list, but getting there - use top filters to select Beer Gardens, or Cash accepted etc.  Camden- Local pubs – London Pubs Directory (listlondonpubs.com)

Already got entries for Paddington, Marylebone and Charing Cross. Still some gaps. Next big project will have to be Kings Cross.

The Robin was opened by the guy who used to run the Southampton Arms I think. The Magdala is one I often go to. Really nice pub. Black Lion in Kilburn is very beautiful but the beer isn't amazing imo and it has the downside of being in Kilburn.

Yeah he is ex Soton, Nick something!

Aha I love the Carlton Tavern on the other side of Kilburn but be arsed walking down the High Road to the Black Lion, stunning as that goddam ceiling looks

Will hold you personally responsible now if I don't have a 8/10 experience in the Magdala

I mean it's quite a different crowd to Clerkenwell and Angel. Most of the women are over 50 and half of those seem to be lesbians.

I was in the US last week purchased 6 crates of IPA beer and fly it back, happy days, the shit i got beats any IPA brewed in the UK.

Made a friend (difficult as it sounds) my buddy has a export business and sending me IPA every month.

Pint of Tower Ale which is apparently a collaboration between Hook Norton and Everards. In the Spoons near Chancery Lane which I've decided is the most civilized pub in London.IMG_20241011_192352404.thumb.jpg.97a2fd26d5fec8187abf17c33f087323.jpg
