I've still got some time for Benny.
I know he nearly took out half our squad in training when he arrived, but I genuinely think he's got something to offer.  He's like the new Was.

A complete waste of money and it looked like it on paper even before he arrived. Something looked fishy about it from the off, IIRC he signed for Atlanta for €1m, was voted one of the worst players in Serie A and then sold to us for €8m a year later.

I've always wondered if it was a Ranieri signing and brown envelopes were involved.

Choudury and Barnes can stay.

Want to keep Choudbury - he settled ok into the first team, think loaning him out would be a step backwards. Get him playing the cup matches.

Personally I think it will get in the way of their development if they do. They won't get anywhere near the first 11 when everyone is fit, playing a season in the championship would be far more beneficial for them than two or three cup games.

Villatalk is a good read if anyone is bored. Basically Grealish is double the player of Maddison.

I read some comments they've been posting on the news reports on this deal. Laughable!

Maddison was voted ahead of him in the Championship team of the season and has far better stats...

Yet they all see this £20-25m deal as justification that Grealish is worth at least £30m

Choudhury to stay and Barnes to go on loan to a Championship side.

I think Hamza will get some decent game time in the cups and he's good to bring on to help close a game out with him being so busy and athletic. Puel also likes  two defensive central midfielders and he's more agile than Iborra and James can't be relied upon to stay fit.

Poor sods, a severe lack of pound notes has really distorted their sense of what their players are worth.

If we got Grealish here I'd be ecstatic about our incomings this summer. He looked really good in the play offs and the Villa fans who see him week in week out think he's the best midfielder they've had at Villa since David Platt.  What a great young team we would have then.

If we don't sign anymore CM's then Choudary needs to stay I think.

Looking at having N'didi, Silva starting with Iborra and Choudary covering. I'd prefer we sign another top CM to go straight in alongside N'didi and mean we have two excellent back-ups in Silva and Iborra, but I wouldn't be against giving Mendy one last chance and 6 months to try and show his worth finally.

Barnes will benefit greatly from going on another season long loan to a Championship club IMO. Next season will be when we should consider integrating him into the first team

I wouldn't do a straight swap for him with Gray. And I don't even rate Gray.

I agree but I think we have gotten the better player of the two. I definitely don't think Grealish should be valued any higher than what we have paid for Maddison either.

Think I've said before that £20m plus add-ons is best they can hope for

I don't think Hamza is quite good enough for main CM cover. Wasn't really good enough to start for the England U21s in that recent tournament they had. Good to sub on late in games where we're holding on to a narrow lead, but I'd prefer James and Mendy (on the rare occasion either are fit ) over Hamza at CM cover any day.

Like most Leicester fans and myself included I daresay you're not best placed to judge him as a footballer. All I know about him is his previous mediocre past seasons at Villa and how good he looked in the three play off games. If you on the Villa forum they talk about him that he's almost a worldie waiting to be discovered, it's not just a few of them but most of them. They can't all be wrong so for that reason I'm in.

Clubs will hold out on bidding for Grealish until its clearer how Villa are doing financial as if they are in a mess as much as it sounds like they are they will have to accept 15-20mill for him as they would need it upfront. If you could get him for 15 I would take the risk.

Just don't think he's any better than what we've already got, for 20m I'd want a significant upgrade.

Statistically he's had barely any end product despite looking like a world beater in a small handful of games. Which is basically the same as Gray, but in the Championship instead of the PL.

Maybe you're right as we really haven't seen enough of Hamza. I think Puel obviously rates him highly though and he has always been marked out as a youth player with huge potential.

Ideally I'd like to get rid of James, King and maybe even Mendy - and sign another CM, but realistically I think Puel may keep James and Mendy around to provide cover as you suggest.

If that's the case, I hope Silva will have a big impact next season and we also need him and N'didi to stay fit and suspension free. I'm confident Iborra can provide good cover and even make an impact from the bench, but having 3 top CM's might not be enough if we want to push the big boys and get caught out by injuries!

Villatalk is a good read if anyone is bored. Basically Grealish is double the player of Maddison.

Grealish has had 2 full seasons in the Championship and played a total of 4009 minutes.

Maddison has had one season in the Championship and played a total of 3675 minutes.

Grealish scored 8 goals, provided 8 assists, was booked 11 times and sent off once.

Maddison scored 14 goals, provided 8 assists and was only booked 7 times.

Grealish had a shot per game ratio of 2.1 and 1.2 in each of his seasons.

Maddison had a shot per game ratio of 2.6.

Even Maddison's pass success ratio is higher! (86.2 to Grealish's 85.6 & 81.3)

Grealish won 5 MOTM awards over two seasons.

Maddison won 8.
