If this breaks down because of a greedy agent I'll be annoyed. And Evans should be too.

Supply and demand.

Evans needs a club so will be taking the best offer on the table, the question is, is there a club who will meet his demand? There doesn't seem a lot of suitors so far with the lack of media links.

I hope this is just haggling though as now Pereira has signed Evans is my preferred No1 target.

You have no idea if it's anything to do with demand.

Question is who else could we buy for £7 Million with the same experience.

This is how I see it too! Surely we’re considering value for money? I guess he’s wanting at least £80k wages, and a minimum of a 3 year contract. Tbf, his agent has been doing a grand job, getting him linked to, Man City, Arsenal etc in recent windows, and putting him in the public eye again.

I do not agree with the agent fee but at this price just jump on it, if he makes the defence stronger its surely a no brainer.

People are far too naive. So what if we're paying an agent £4m? The same people would be quite happy to pay Swansea City £20m for Alfie Mawson. It's about LCFC at the end of the day and one is a far smaller outlay than the other.

I would pay £20 Million for Mawson all day long if fit.

Alfie mawson good solid CB very young aswel valued at 20 mill.

2 to  3 years time Alfie mawson one of England's top CB 26 -28 will be valued around 70-90 mill.

Evans 31 years old valued at 3mill agsnt 4 mill (7mill)have 2 good years but solid and on very high wages

Evans providing he does well 33 -35 valued at 1 mill but agent get 8 mill.

Hmmmmm no brained for me if it was what would be best for the club.

Or we could just get both .

I'd much prefer mawson over evans

Prefer Mawson for the long term yes, or I would happily take Evan also.

I quite like mawson but he hasn't yet proven he has what it takes to play at the top end of the Premier so I think you're getting a bit carried away.

He's decent-ish on the ball which instantly makes him saleable as an English defender. He hasn't yet shown much more than that.

Maybe this should be in the unpopular opinions thread, but I haven't seen anything to suggest Mawson is actually a good defender, was regularly done by his man on set pieces and had plenty of lapses in concentration.

But he's English, has come up through the leagues and can pass, so it doesn't matter,

Top end premier league team.

Do you mean a top 10 premier league team?

If he was in a better side he would stand out more. Hes done very well in a poor swansea side. Just like maguire did at Hull.

Just like maguire he hadn't shown any signs of being a English defender until he moved to us.

Plus he would be on what maybe 50-60kpw.

Just everything about this Evans deal is putting me off.

He may have one good season MAY have.

But he comes here just expecting a final pay jump he might just coast his contract.

Mawson would be trying to I'mprove his game day in day out.

Like I said would prefer to get both because when Evans flops atleast we had the back up of mawson.

And if Evans is a flop he will be on a long contract with high wages would be hard to sell.

Football is a business and Evans isn't good business.

I could be right or wrong about Evans, but people thinking he will come here and automatically make our back 4 a huge improvement  and delusional and are not physic.

Good for the gamble of the price but people that gamble usually lose.

Lawson is far more of a gamble than Evans. On one hand, you have an international CB in just about his prime, with over 200 appearances at this level, 3 league winners medals and 2 league cup winners medals for roughly around 17m, including fee, agent fee and wages.

Mawsons transfer fee alone would be more than that and he' had 1 good season at this level...... that' it. Yes, you might get a sell on fee if he's successful but surely we should be looking at what we're gonna get on the pitch now and not what we might get in the bank later.

its his age if he was two years younger then fair enough, injuries take longer to heal and of course injuries tend to easier as you age, ok Huth was an exception until last year with injuries, I would be looking at other targets alot younger.
