No clamour for the AWOL players - Worrying

Recommended Posts

There are lots of players missing. On loan, injured, on suspension or just plain still running around but carrying a bucket, a spade and a jumbo beach towel. With the run of really poor results I find it disconcerting no one is rueing that Schmeichel got himself injured when we are shipping about 4 goals a game and it seems no one, I have to say me included, thinks if he was there it'd be any different. No one noticed when Musa went away. Or Slim. Or James got himself re-injured again. No one is calling out for the return of Andy King to save us. We all think Mahrez is off in the Summer and probably mostly hope it is now so. No one mentions that the defence has been pants since Huth got injured and wouldn't it be nice to have him back. No one says Fuchs is a must to replace the guaranteed gimme a golden chance or two a game Chilwell. Iborra seems to get injured easily. Albrighton is missing a brain. Simpson and Morgan, I won't even go there.

The club is screwed with a lot of overpaid and underachieving players. Two years ago I though be good to bring in two or three new players. Last year I was thinking five or six. This year, well its like we need a team and a half. The stock value has fallen that low. I think it'll be Championship football in 2019.

The rot started to set in as soon as Mahrez went off on his little jolly for three weeks.

When he returned, he was mis-managed and put straight back into the team.  What message does this send out to the other players?

I wouldn't level all the blame at Puel, he clearly hasn't helped himself though, but some of our "champions" have literally faded beyond belief imo.

Err you've not been reading Foxestalk much then.

Probably not quite as much as you do.

I even forgot to mention Mendy, thats because I completely forgot he is one of the 4 senior players presently away on loan. You'd think with 4 senior players on loan, several still here but not eligible to play that there would be a fair amount of if only they weren't injured or if we hadn't loaned that player out. But, people don't see that the loaned or injured or suspended players would have made any difference to the batterings received over the last 3 months. It all has an air of out of control decline about it. Being the age I am I've seen a few relegations so another one fast approaching isn't going to crush me.

I think plenty have bemoaned the absence of Slim and Ulloa as a plan B, of the others, none of the loanees were anywhere near the first team anyway.  There was plenty of clamour for Silva, countdown threads and everything and what a disappointment that has been so far.  Dragovic is another that we have all been asking for.

Of our players, the difference makers are obviously Mahrez and Vardy and they are available anyway.  Then there is Harry and Wilf.  After that there are no standouts this year.  Diabate is perhaps a bright spark for the future.

It seems to me that the major gripe on FT is not the personnel as such, more Puel's walking football stlye of play and perhaps the attitudes and apparent apathy among some of the players.

Schmeichel didn't get himself injured.

He was injured by a vicious challenge from an opponent following a terrible piece of play from Simpson.

Not Schmeichel's fault.

No one in the right mind is going to fork out for Slim, Ulloa and King.

Musa we were conned simple as.

Mendy is missing presumed dead.

This is indeed a sad indictment of the recent performance levels of the Scouting/Recruitment/DoF.    Needs changing.

Weird thread.

Aside from letting our plan B go, the other players on loan are not really up to it. Other than hope that the injuries some players have picked up are legitimate there this not much else that can be done on that score.

Mahrez: what 'clamour' are you looking for here? People have been frustrated with his performances for a while and I think most people are ready to end the saga.

Fuchs: Started the last game, didn't do anything to win the place back imo. Not much to say here, he is going to be around for a little bit longer before he goes to the US. He basically has a pipe in and slippers on at the moment.

Iborra: When he has time on the ball he looks good, but it's the same with Silva, they are used to a slower paced league. In my opinion they are 'classy' players (look good, can make a pass every now and again (and some howlers too), read the game OK, but won't run around like we are used to, although Silva does have a higher work rate and makes the a good challenge now and again), but it probably will take too long for them to get up to speed with the PL, if they do at all. Which means that they are not good enough.

Albrighton, Simpson and Morgan: People have been complaining about them.

Slimani on his way back according to the Chronicle. Hasn't done himself or us any favours in my view by taking the decision to end his loan early. Yes he couldn't play, but I can't imagine Benitez or the Board were overly impressed when he chose to return to Leicester and not stick around until the end.
