leicsmac Posted 17 November 2018 Posted 17 November 2018 Anyone else think that the England fielding should be talked about more? One piece of excellent glovework from Foakes and catching from Jennings already today, to add to Stokes' deeds in the first innings. Leach looking pretty good too.

Our fielding does look on an upward surge. We've been slightly ropey for 18 months so they must have been doing work on it. Stokes leads the way, he's incredible in the field.
Max Wall Posted 17 November 2018 Posted 17 November 2018 Wow. Was that Jennings parrying the ball to the wicketkeeper? That could be decisive.
Max Wall Posted 17 November 2018 Posted 17 November 2018 Just seen that dismissal again. Brilliant by Jennings. Edit - Actually, he was trying to catch it and it happened to deflect to the keeper. Still magnificent anticipation though.
Max Wall Posted 17 November 2018 Posted 17 November 2018 Mathews is a good player. A total thorn in the side at times. If he and Roshen can take them up to 200, this will be a seriously close test match I reckon.
Guest MattP Posted 17 November 2018 Posted 17 November 2018 That was sensational from Jennings. Been a great test match, probably all down to this partnership.
ealingfox Posted 17 November 2018 Posted 17 November 2018 That non-review was a sickener. Think SL have got this now.

Max Wall Posted 17 November 2018 Posted 17 November 2018 Angelo Mathews. What an utter pain in the arse he must be to play against. What a fantastic innings so far.
Max Wall Posted 17 November 2018 Posted 17 November 2018 Mo to the rescue. Massive wicket. Great rearguard innings from Angelo though. Tips the balance again.
surrifox Posted 17 November 2018 Posted 17 November 2018 Great test match . Anybody's match if the weather holds long enough to allow a finish .
fuchsntf Posted 17 November 2018 Posted 17 November 2018 Whatever the result..another great Test match.. Errors, then brilliance, twists and turns, peaches, then rotten apples..makes it fascinating!!
surrifox Posted 17 November 2018 Posted 17 November 2018 The DRS review system was intended to help with eliminating umpiring errors but to some extent has caused more issues to do with poor review selection , missed chances to review and the actual technology itself. Maybe just leave it umpires on field ?

Maybe just leave it umpires on field ? there's two separate issues there. Poor review selection is down to the players; that's not the fault of the umpire or an umpire's error. Likewise with the missed chances to review. Again that's down to the players.

Oh I agree- no fault being apportioned . It's just that the application of technology was seen as taking the woulda/ coulda /shoulda out of the game and assist the umpires but it has still left batsmen who weren't out leaving the crease and fair dismissals not standing because of the somewhat arbitrary application of the review system .
Guest MattP Posted 18 November 2018 Posted 18 November 2018 Slept in and missed it! Terrific performance, great series win and we might have found two quality players in Foakes and Leach who could be regulars.
Corky Posted 18 November 2018 Posted 18 November 2018 To win a series in a country where India, Australia and South Africa have all lost recently is a cracking effort.

fuchsntf Posted 19 November 2018 Posted 19 November 2018 How about this for the last Test??? 1 Burns 2 Jennings 3 Denly 4 Bairstow (c) 5 Pope 6 Foakes (wk) 7 Moeen 8 Woakes 9 Broad 10 Leach 11 Stone either Bairstow or Moen as captain... This selection doesn't really weaken our potential of winning,It gives then all the travelling players a taste of being part of this historic series win...

Baylis has ruled out wholesale changes so probably just Woakes for (injured) Curran and if the conditions are likely to favour seam bowling Rashid might be a casualty
surrifox Posted 20 November 2018 Posted 20 November 2018 Cricket Australia have upheld the bans on Warner Smith and Bancroft after attempts to reinstate them - they deserve credit for their efforts to rehabilitate the reputation of their country’s cricket
