There was a period when TOTP would open with a single that wasn't in the charts.  In 1969 one such record was the original of Popcorn, which some consider to be early example of what later became Synthpop.  It didn't chart but a cover did make the Top Ten three years later.

I had no idea that something resembling Lynard Skynyrd meets Andrew Eldritch being sung by a Millennial that clearly wishes they peaked in the 60s was something that I needed in my life but honestly I can't bring myself to hate this.
