Just been to Tesco in ashby that was pretty chronic but we made it. Have all the food procured now just need to cook it all. Will be going over to my rents for the day and I’m in charge. Looking forward to it and I hope everyone had a good one.

I’m currently queuing to park at my local Tesco’s and haven’t even got in yet. Nightmare. Merry Christmas ?

It’s mental this guy gave me his basket as there was none anywhere it was a minor christmas miracle. But he knew it and had a look on his face as if he expected something in return. I was like mate I ain’t got you a card

Been sat in gridlock for 20 mins trying to get out of Tesco’s Ffs. This is nuts. All the frozen food will be fookin defrosted by the time I get home :mad:

I used to love Christmas, for the general ambience and especially for the excitement of the children. However since the kids have grown up and left home, I really don't celebrate it anymore. Yeah I send gifts and wish people an enjoyable holiday but I don't bother putting up the decorations etc...

 

We've eaten at restaurants for Christmas day for at least 35 years - why anyone would want to spend hours preparing food beats me - and for the last few years we've headed off to another city for Christmas eve through the boxing day. Last year Gexto Bilbao, San Sebastien the year before that etc...- not far away but a long way away.

 

This year my daughter has asked if we'll meet up with them (family) somewhere between our two homes but that'll not be until 28th - 30th in Cahors. It'll probably piss it down and be a long wet couple of days but here's hoping (though I'll still need to get away somewhere quiet for the Cardiff match).

I went to winter wonderland in Hyde Park yesterday. Imagine something on the scale of Glastonbury only with people with pushchairs. Hideously expensive too.

Last few years we have gone mad cooking all sorts from scratch but had I haven’t got much time off work so just going for turkey and gammon with Jamie Oliver’s stuffing and veg.

 

For pudding I am making home made Cannoli which could be a massive disaster but I’ve never even eaten it before so at least I won’t realise if it is shit.

 

Last year I made a huge gingerbread cake (recipe on BBCs good food site) and a home made Cheddar and Pickle pork pie for the evening. Both incredible but they take ages to make.

We all have turkey etc too Una ...    well, except for Mrs CF who is a pesky-tarian....     oh, and the young prince and his squeeze who are vogons and have to eat at the very end of the table in case some gravy accidentally splashes off my plate and lands on their greenery ...   :)

Yeah I know what you mean mate I love cooking and did loads from scratch last year like the stuffing etc. Did Jamie Oliver’s stuffing too with pork shoulder etc always nice. This year I’ve just been to busy so being selective with what I make. One thing I always do is a home made chilli jam it’s amazing and goes well with cheese n all the leftovers. Also I make a leftover Christmas dinner sausage roll which is class see pic.

 

That pork pie sounds legit you got a recipe?

Here is the recipe, I didn’t put that grim dog food jelly shit in so the cheese and pickle went on top. The water crust pastry is bizarre and seeing that much lard go into something going in your mouth isn’t the nicest thought but **** it it’s christmas
