Could be then. Allen said 3 years but seemed a bit forgetful so could be 2.

Jonny Hayes was a 3 year deal?

I think Hayes was one signing perhaps Allen actually wanted. Didn't he have him on loan previously?

Remember he was very positive about his signing.

Just got around to listening to it and I pretty much agree with the above.

Had he stayed we wouldnt have been relegated. Yes his methods were different but you shouldn't knock him. Who knows what might have happened.

One interesting comment about a club where a player was signed on a 3 year deal without his approval who then disrupted the dressing room. He said he wouldnt name names but it appears it was Leicester (sacked and context at the time was Milan signing players). Any idea who it could have been?

....it would have been honest if he had fronted up and tell the club that they are no longer sourcing players without his approval!!!

He accepted the salary, he could not believe his eyes and seem to go along with things he obviously was not keen on doing. The bit about the golf course incident sums him up as someone who makes poor decisions and lacked the authority on and off the pitch.

One of the funniest bits of that era was Megson being the absolute pits here and the fans wishing he was sacked and Bolton in the PL at the time came and actually paid compensation for him.

We were all going nuts as Mandaric was digging his heels in and refusing to let him go.

I can add an odd bit of intrigue to the mix around the Megson appointment! True story this - I was stewarding a game at Histon vs Wrexham or something - when Histon were in the Conference and at half time this bloke in a suit came out of the door I was on, sparked up a fag - and after being on his phone for a bit I got chatting to him as I was intrigued he was wearing a suit down a Conference game 😂

He was the head scout at the time for Bolton, can’t for the life of me remember his name sadly 🤦‍♂️ but he was a Leicester fan - Megson left us shortly after to join Bolton. I always thought he’d done us a solid, put in a word and got him off our hands 😂

Very soon after Martin Allen was sacked I was having a drink in one of the small bars on Hinkley Rd and got talking to the only other person in there.

The bloke told me he had been MA's driver and the reason he was sacked was because of an incident in training. He said that Jimmy Nielsen had been

laughing about the nice contract he had managed to secure at the club and about how much money he was earning without having to do anything. The bloke said that MA took exception to this and stuck one on him. The bloke seemed totally genuine and was a bit down about losing his job. No idea if this actually happened but I've often thought it had a ring of truth to it.

....i think there is only one small bar on the Hnckley road, so far as i know!!!

If it is the one I am thinking of, it will be surprise that there was someone else in there, that place is always empty.

It was Entropy, a great little place at the time. On the corner with the old H.North sign. There was also Quando further up the road which later became a Polish bar.

...Entropy is very popular, Quando is like being in someone's lounge, you get the same people going in there and you suspect it is just a refuge from their partners. The polish take over has made no difference, you may see the occasional person in there with the tv on the wall, I have no idea how or if the make any money. All very strange.
