Dark times. :(

Living them at the time, that is exactly how they felt!

However, I can now look back, at that being the moment, when all the shit stopped, and it was an upward trajectory, that we are still on. Was a watershed moment for us LCFC fans. So I dont watch that with ill feeling as I have had the joy at living through the following progress.

You are certainly right there! I believe his nickname was 'Mad Dog' !

The interesting person however is Milan Mandaric. I remember at the time he was owner writing on here (or another forum) that my humble opinion said we'd be well rid of him and his odd ways. My god! The slating I got from others! Told to go off and support another team and 'didn't I know he'd saved us'?

As it was when Kun Vichai and Top took over it sort of vindicated what I had been saying, and we were soon to become the best-ran club in the country. Much the same as when I was vehement in my criticism of Puel - goodness, the abuse I got for wanting a 'proper' manager!!   ...and now we've got one - boy, their opinions have changed!

So I was 100% right about Mandaric and Pue,l but  (and you can't win them all  ) I was 100% wrong about Iheanacho !!

...sorry Kel!

No-one likes a "know it all"... but I'd agree with your points

I think it best left in the past.

All seems a bit of an act to me, would be very tiring and wearing to deal with the man all day everyday!

Not convinced that there isn't more to the the Clarke story, no club sacks the manager the morning after one of their players have nearly died without good reason.

See my post above . Can't say on here for obvious reasons as it's unsubstantiated (even though a close source) and I don't want to bring any heat to FT but it really doesn't make good reading...

Can't be long before he's back at Barnet again for his 83rd spell as manager.

Out of work and has family connections to Tottenham. Watch this space...

The only thing you need to take out of that video is the reaction to the contract. It was doomed from that point on and that’s on Milan.

You don’t offer someone who is used to pennies, pounds instantly. You incentivise it. Form the moment he saw those numbers it was simply a case of waiting to get sacked and taking the pay off... which he knew wouldn’t be long given the transfer dealings we’d already done.

Don’t blame the guy to be honest; we’d all have done the same when you see a life changing sum of money, morals go out the window.

Seemed to me like he’s still doing a fair bit of coke so he’s probably still living off that pay off lol

FWIW, here is a playlist of Leicester City 2007-08 News Clips for the memories: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLN6mcXPc8AmWnrI7CGXMKIOt3QqIiZ_NT

Thanks for posting, ended up watching a few.

Fvck me, that was a grim time.

I'll admit as others have said, it was exciting to be signing players for money again but looking back, we were a right circus.

The current owners (and Vichai) have made many mistakes along the way but you get the feeling we are a professionally run outfit with success at the heart of it.

I dread to think where we'd have been if Mandaric hadn't appointed Pearson and let him bring his own staff in.

Allen was never right for the job but Mandaric was the king of odd decisions for 12 months.

He does fail to mention HUGELY pissing off our experienced core lads in the dressing room and treating them like mugs. I’m sure Milan was a joke of a chairman and set him up to fail but Allen was no saint either. Should never be managing at championship level

Never heard of this, is it a published story or another foxestalk insider rumour?

De Vries is Dutch but I'm not sure Allen knew or cared about the difference.

I did find it funny how he bragged about knowing every player at every club but then couldn’t remember de vries’ name (or half the squads) and labelled him a big French lad.

Not published mate. Friendly with one of the players who was there at the time. Says the squad hated MA and got him deposed. Went to Milan and basically said we can’t have this guy manage us anymore. Then he got the chop. Allen probably doesn’t even know

I remember that pre-season buzzing loads of signings, D J Campbell, Iranian wonder kid, Clemence, Kishishev , Hellings  etc, but it soon become relevant that we signed some absolute dross.

Thank god we got Pearson in at the of the season.

Please don't remind me of Allen, Hollowords and all that trash. The best day's work Mandaric did for this Club was to get Vichai interested, nothing more, nothing less.

Now, let's confine it all to history.

I mention it everytime Martin Allen is brought up but there's a lot more to that Clive Clarke story according to one of the directors at the time. Does not make good reading for Allen.

What did happen in the ‘Clive Clarke’ incident, can’t remember if I’m honest (it’s an age thing)
