Wish the U23's would stop playing 3 at the back, it really doesn't suit them and baring in mind we've 2 very good wingers and a 3rd in Popov coming through I'm not sure why Petty has changed it to that.

It happened before we started playing it fora few games in the 1st team and given its always a stop gap formation in the first team and the strengths of the likes of Maswanhise, Pennant and Alves then I don't get it but then again the way we run our academy has never made sense.

U16's and U18's all play 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 and I'd heard there was a brief to do the same throughout but evidently not.

Liverpool Under-23s Claim PL2 Points In Merseyside
DEVELOPMENT SQUAD
Published 3 hrs 28 mins ago
1 MinuteReading time
Leicester City’s Development Squad slipped to a 3-0 defeat to Liverpool Under-23s at Liverpool Academy on Sunday afternoon.
There were two Foxes changes from the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Monday with Sam Hughes making his return from injury, replacing Bayli Spencer-Adams in defence and Ethan Fitzhugh coming in for Thanawat Suengchitthawon.

It was the hosts who made a blistering start to the Premier League 2 Division 1 encounter in Merseyside, with forward Max Woltman netting on 12 minutes. Conor Bradley added a second just eight minutes later, assisted by Owen Beck, to put Liverpool in full control at the break.

There were no further goals in the second half until deep into added time when James Norris set up substitute Jack Bearne to secure three points for the home side.

It leaves Leicester 11th in the PL2 standings, with 13 points from their 12 matches, while Liverpool climb up to eighth having played a game more.

The Foxes youngsters return to Premier League 2 action on Friday 3 December, meeting Leeds United Under-23s, who sit one place and one point below the Foxes in the table, at LNER Community Stadium in York (7pm GMT kick-off).

The details…

City: Young, Daley-Campbell (c), Brunt, S. Hughes (Spencer-Adams 45’), B.Nelson, McAteer; Braybrooke (Flynn 55’), Ewing; Marcal-Madivadua (Russ 45’), Fitzhugh, Maswanhise.

Subs not used: Odunze, Wakeling.

Reece Evans with 2 goals and an assist, he's absolutely smashing U16's this season. One to keep an eye on. This must have been his 1st game for rhe U18's whom will be resting some of their main ayers for the FA Youth Cup midweek.

I was wrong. The U16's also played Forest and Evans scored twice and got an assist.

The U18's who won 4-1 were yet again a brace watch for Popov and Kian Pennant (2 assists for Popov's goals too)

I wonder what the plan of for these pair? They are an absolute joke for the U18's. Step them up and get Reece Evans in to the U18's.

Was chatting to a dad of a kid in Cambs Utd academy this morning and he commented that our U11’s were the best they had played thus far this season.

means nothing at ten/eleven but better that they are good !

My son is in the U11s. We have some very good players. When they play some players together in the same team we are pretty impressive to watch but it is hit and miss because they mix it up between 2 9 aside teams every week.

My son has stayed away from school football this year. He does enough with the academy so don't want to add more to his schedule and risk injuries. They're training 3 times a week and at least 1 match on a Sunday. Then every other week cage games so between 8 and 12 hours of football. Next year goes to day release with 1 day a week at seagrave plus the other sessions.

Leicester City’s Under-18s collected their second win in Group A of their U18 Premier League Cup campaign to move top of their pool after beating Nottingham Forest 4-1 at LCFC Training Ground.
More on this story...

City's Youngsters Top Of U18 PL South After Fulham Victory
The young Foxes had already beaten Newcastle United 3-1 in their first group match, but then lost 2-0 to Southampton last time out.

Having put together a four-game unbeaten run in all competitions heading into Saturday’s match in Seagrave, City were full of confidence from the off, and that showed in the opening 45 minutes, during which they scored four first-half goals to blow their opponents away.

After just two minutes, Kian Pennant opened the scoring, assisted by captain Joe Wormleighton, and then a six-minute brace from Chris Popov – twice set up by Pennant – put the Club’s youngsters in a commanding 3-0 lead.

That advantage was extended with 11 minutes of the first period to play, when Wormleighton and Pennant combined again, with the latter netting his second of the game.

Only a late effort from Forest’s Josh Powell denied Kelechi Chibueze a clean sheet in what proved to be another dominant performance from the young Foxes.

With Newcastle and Southampton yet to play each other in Group A, the winner of the pool is yet to be determined. The seven group winners and the best runner-up, decided by total points and then goal difference followed by head-to-head record, will advance to the quarter-finals.

The details…

City: Chibueze, Grist, Godsmark-Ford, Wilson-Brown, Lindsay, Cover (Lewis 83’), Cartwright, Butterfill (Dawkins 76’), Wormleighton, Popov, Pennant.

Subs not used: Cook, Weeks, Kutshienza.

Goals: Pennant 2’, 34’, Popov 13’, 18’.

Pennant, Popov, and Butterfill absolutely smashing it this season, 17 league goals between them already

Popov - 5 goals, 1 assist

Butterfill - 5 goals, 1 assist

Pennant - 7 goals, 4 assists

Hopefully sooner rather than later they can start getting some under 23 game time if we look to loan a couple of those forwards out (Maswanhise, Sueng, Wakeling etc.)

Is that all? I swear Popov and Pennant has scored that amount in the last 4 games.

Think it must be the cup games as well then as there's been several other goals from the pair of them.

Southampton game is missing stats just noticed

Popov got 2 and Pennant got 1

So Popov on 7 goals and Pennant on 8 goals in the league

Leeds United U23s vs Leicester U23s live stream details from the Premier League 2 clash
How to follow this evening's action as Mark Jackson's side look to return to winning ways

Leeds United's under-23s are in action again on Friday evening when they face Leicester City.

Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling made their injury comebacks with Mark Jackson's side on Monday evening at Manchester City, but Marcelo Bielsa has cast doubt on them featuring again tonight, as the pair eye a first-team return against Brentford on Sunday.

Ayling got through the opening 45 minutes before being replaced at half time at City, while Bamford played the full 90 as both players made a significant step in their recoveries ahead of a busy Christmas period.

"In principle, no," was Bielsa answer when asked if the pair will feature against the Foxes when he underwent his pre-Brentford press conference.

The young Whites will be looking for their first Premier League Two win in nine matches, having picked up their last victory against Liverpool in mid-September.
