I'd heard this Popov was the real deal when he was on trial here and it was baffling how Man Utd didn't manage to get him to stay but what a huge coup for us.

I regularly abuse our academy for their inability to recruit well in the 16-19 age group but @Chocolate Teapot was right when he said this summer was different with Popov, Grist, Lindsay and Young.

Hopefully we can nab a few more from good stock.

Grist could be the main one to keep an eye on, given our defensive issues in the first team & the high probability we will need to replace Soyuncu, Fofana & Evans within the next couple years.

I’m a Newcastle loss away from saying chuck them all + Nelson and Penant in the first team

Good to see Mcateer make his debut today.

Question for people who follow the u23s/u18s..  Who else would you like to see get some minutes this season?

Nelson, Braybrooke, Madivadua, Maswanhise, maybe even Popov who has been tearing it up for the under 18s

Popov a winger or attacking midfielder? I don’t think I’ve seen him play yet

He's a left footed right winger, which you can imagine how interested I am! He's equally as strong playing in a front two. He's far too good for the U18's from the limited stuff I've seen of him, he's got all the physical qualities to be a beast of a player.

Great to see Popov doing well! Will have to see if I can find some videos of his performances lately. Guessing they might be quite tough to come by...

I don't really know anything about McAteer, I presume he's an attacking midfielder? Think I saw him playing pretty well in that U23s defeat to Spurs recently.
