Do we know how long we've consecutively had a youth product in starting XI of the first team for Premier League games?

Guessing it's dating back to when Andy King first started, and by the time he had left Chilwell and Barnes were playing. But when Barnes has been missing, has any other youth product been playing?

...would you cast KDH as a youth product!!!

There have been 2 games where we haven't had a home grown player in the start 11 in the Prem this season

The 4-2 win at home against Man Utd, and the 2-1 away win against Brentford, both in October

There was at least 1 home grown player on the bench in each game though

...I thought it was a pretty obvious answer to your previous question, just wondering why you did not include him in your list!!!

I didn't name everyone, just wondered how far back, as opposed to most recent :)

The last time in all comps was the home game against Spartak.

Schmeichel

Amartey Evans Soyuncu

Castagne Soumaré Pérez Tielemans Bertrand

Daka Iheanacho

Dewsbury-Hall did replace Soumaré in that game though.

That Brentford game was the last time no academy product got game time, though. KDH, Barnes and Choudhury all unused subs.

Our former youth teamer, Calvin Bassey, is having a decent game for Rangers tonight.

Would've probably got decent game time this season. But fair play to the lad, he saw Fofana et Al in front of him and made the jump elsewhere

Before we get a Bassey thread and 38 pages of why did we let him go, another 1 we messed about blah blah can I remind you that it was his choice. Leicester saw him as a CB but he wanted to be a LB and didn’t want to stay after being told Thomas had moved ahead of him at LB he said he hated CB and would move on, ironically He is now playing at CB

Bassey does look big and strong

Did our coaches miss something or didn't Bassey show his potential while at Leicester?

Did you not read the post two posts above?

Luke wasn’t in front of him when he made his decision to leave ( Agent lead ) but he wasn’t guaranteed first team football

If he had signed then he would have been ahead of Luke in the pecking order at the time

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he get dropped from the U23's or at least moved from being first choice at LB and played some games in midfield or centre half in that final year that might have annoyed him?

Thomas had been fast tracked from the U18's but you're right, it wasn't as if he was behind him per se.

I remember there being talk of a loan deal in the January window of 2020 that didn't happen, like a few other youngsters as Beaglehole was going for some pointless mission to win the PL2 whatever the cost to players development. Can see why he got fed up.

At the end of the day the lad wanted first team football, moved away and got it. Without knowing an injury crisis would come he had 2 experienced pros at least plus Thomas ahead of him for the LB role and at least 4 experienced pros ahead of him at CB. Was the best thing for all parties for him to move on. I would love to see him make it in the PL one day.

I kind of dip in and out of this thread, but just wondering who the realistic prospects are for breaking through from the academy next season? Hearing loads of good stuff about players like Braybrooke, Maswanhise, Popov, Alves, Nelson & Brunt, but are any of them actually close to breaking through? Or are we going to see a few loans next season?

I think it’ll all depend on who we bring in. If we have enough squad depth they’ll hopefully be going out on loan. Bar maybe Baybrooke and Alves who are seventeen and may do better training with the first team for another season rather than going to league one which they’re probably not physically ready for.

The parents of 17 year olds would probably prefer them to finish their exams before they go on loan.
