It's crazy, I unfortunately have "mates" who can't wait to get tickets for the big events and no word of a lie one of them still goes because its on his sporting bucket list to watch Phil Taylor live in person.

Obviously Phil is still playing on the senior tour so it is still possible but believe me this lad pays ridiculous money to attend the majors sitting in the best seats just so he can tick it off his list lol

I would say something but he's that dislikable after a few lines and a few pints that deep down I want him to bankrupt himself before I tell him

Tell him to go to the seniors at the circus tavern,i would love to go but the prices are too high(and i have seen taylor a few times!)And to be honest so have my lad's who are 8 and 10,i made sure they were at the masters, before he retired!

Price thrives off the crowd, I really think it's made him a better player over the years.

Missed the Price vs. Smith game as I was at work ffs, got it recorded ready for when I wake up tomorrow morning. The Wright match was decent though, his experience just showed towards the end.

Loving the tournament this year.

The ****** are back in force ain't they, I stopped going to major events a few years back now as I was surrounded by idiots who wanted to get w@nkered, get into a fight and sing football songs.

Miss the days of "best of order" in the BDO

You used to get “ best of order “ in the PDC if you watch the darts gold program’s from 20 years ago the crowd are nothing like they are now.

The change seemed to come with the move to Ally pally and encouraging people to turn up in fancy dress, it’s bought with it the stag doo mentality.

You can have a great atmosphere without the booing, especially on the doubles. Its a balance because for your casual watcher, the crowd contributes to the spectacle and drama, without it would be a bit dull. See last year's championship.

It's changed hugely over the years. You watch the classic matches from 20-25 years ago and it was much quieter, seemed to be a more respectful atmosphere not just of the players but the sport (in a similar way to snooker where it was almost silent when players were at the oche).

Now it seems to be a boorish crowd, getting pissed and showing little respect. Mindless, irrelevant chants and loads seemingly not there for the sport. Feel for those who do want to attend for the event.

To play devil's advocate darts now is a spectacle and is much bigger than its was 15 years ago. As such the prize money is through the roof, as such the standard is getting almost biblical with set averages topping 120 quite often this year. You take away the crowd and the atmosphere you take away the spectacle and it almost collapses like a house of cards. I agree, personally, especially with booing on the doubles its just not on, but the riches and standard of darts that has come with it is well worth putting up with.

So what does everyone think for tonight?

Wade v Smith...i'd love Wade to win the whole thing, but Smith seems to have got over the bottling...so Smith                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Anderson v Wright....this is going to be tight,Wright hasn't played his a game yet and Gando has a habit of putting it all together at the right time......so Ando for me.

Smith to beat wade comfortably (I hope, I’m not a Wade fan at all lol) but he is finding a way at the minute even with poor averages and hardly any 180’s.

Anderson to beat Wright in last set thriller - really tough to call a winner but think Anderson just about takes it with his finishing. Took Wright ages to get going on the doubles last night.

I think Smith beats Wade comfortably the other one is tight as you say. I’d go for Wright to edge it.

Predictions,

Smith 6 Wade 2

Wright 6 Anderson 4

Don't know wether i read it on here, but James Wade is the first player (ok with a bye) to make it to the semis without hitting any 180's in previous matches......Mad!

I certainly agree that the crowd are needed to create the atmosphere that adds to the entertainment. Last year’s tournament was a poor watch for me.

I don’t like the irrelevant football chanting in the crowd but can certainly put up with it. But the booing and barracking of players when they are throwing needs to stop. It needs to be called out more by the PDC and the broadcasters IMO.

He got to the quarters without hitting one. I think he hit a few against King last round.

Pretty much my thoughts on it too, difficult for a sport like darts to have it both ways unless you have certain tournaments for the purists and other marketed for the masses.

Don’t get what he’s actually claiming Smith did? That bloke in the crowd?

Neither do I, his beef should surely be with the crowd if anyone rather than Smith?

I don't think he's having a pop at Smith here - just a poorly worded tweet.

Smith was nothing but complementary about Price in his post match interview and I sensed they were good mates.

When the sky reporter asked smith about it after the game he said something like Gerwyn likes the crowd being against him, instead of condemning there behaviour. I presume its that he’s on about

It's only matter of time before the sweary songs come out, don't think it's got that bad yet. Can't wait to hear "you're shit, ahhhh"...

Price has a right to be annoyed at the crowd but it's a really poorly written tweet. Comes across a bit thick.

I'm not a great fan of Price, but the stuff he has to put up with is wrong..at the start after the final with Gando at the GS it was just pantomime stuff....but now has gone to far in my opinion.

Can't believe Wade is only 38. Must have had a tough paper round.

Must have done something right with his Mrs!
