It's a tactic at set-pieces for Schmeichel to stay on the line. I'm sure he mentioned it. He's a pro-active goalkeeper who likes to get involved- why would he decide to be different at corners?

I don't agree he is being made a scapegoat as he is the defensive coach. Yes ultimate decisions are Brendan's but Kolo has to take some responsibility surely?

Youve nailed it.

At the end of the day the man at the top has to take the blame.

He sets up his back room staff and the team.

THIS by the way Is NOT a sack BR rant from me.

I'm just saying every stems from the top tier,  like a CEO of a business( you could however argue its Susan Whelan or Top, but let's keep it to the footballing aspect)

EVERYONE knows we are crap at defending  and especially  corners, MOTD highlighted it last night!

If BR and KT cant sort ot out come New Year, well I despair.

Sorry but it starts with the manager. That's why they don't concede many goals. Even if we brought Wolves' defence coach here we'd still be shit.

It's simply a result based scenario. He is tasked with making us coordinated and hard to score against. Regardless of the personnel available. That's his portfolio and feck me is he failing massively. However the starker observation is whether this is a demise or in fact has he improved our defensively resilience at any point in his tenure?

Indeed we do.

But surely you understand the concept of first choice.  They are first choice for a reason!

i also understand the concept of having decent substitutes and training the team so anyone can step in and do a job if needed. whats the point in having them otherwise?

This is bottom of the barrel blaming right here. Get real! what a Shockingly embarrasing fanbase we have become.

Defensively we are arguably the worst in the league at the minute. Its not bottom of the barrel blaming to question what the defensive coach is doing with the team.

Absolutely. MOTD did a piece on it as it's become so well known how poor we are defensively. So those tasked with organising our defence are fair game. However Kolo is Brendan's man. So BR even changes him or stands account himself. So ultimately it is BRs fault we are leaky as £&+@!!!

A defense that's constantly in-out injured. An unbalanced team around them. It's fine to question what our defensive couches are doing to shore-up our defense as much as possible and eliminating silly/lazy mistakes. But with this blaming merry-go-around we seem to do on here there's this hardline 'out' attitude.

I don't think these defensive problems are new but are they getting worse? GA numers 14/15 season onwards 55, 36, 63, 60 -BR joins club- 48, 41, 50... Yes we're in mass crisis regarding injuries and players out, a problem we've been struggling to a lesser extent with since last season. But I also don't know whether this isn't purely the level of these players. In the last 5 years our best GoalsAgainst (40) also happened to be with No European football. Generally it looks like top four all have a GA well below 40. But they also spend 40+mil for key defenders. The only defender we've spent close to that money for is Fofana. And those key defenders are leaders and organize the line, doing much of the work of coaches and managers for them. We don't really have that at the moment. Even Evans has lost control. Where Huth came in during the winter transfer period that's the sort of player I'd like to see brought in now.
