Our main problem has not been rectified in almost 2 years, if anything it has worsened miserably. Kolo’s responsibility is the development of the defence and he is simply not doing his job. If Rodgers won’t come out and take responsibility and just keep saying “set pieces is our Achilles heel” week after week, the buck stops at Touré. No more excuses, it’s not working. Regardless of the injuries etc, no back four should making calamities after calamities as regularly as we are. Time to go.

Set pieces isn’t him. It’s been the long serving coaching member on the staff and I ain’t joking

Our set piece work is Mike Stowell doing 5 minutes at the end of training isn’t it? lol

Has Stowell always been our set piece coach? Wonder why the hell he changed it to zonal marking from the old school way of marking the oppositions strongest headers of the ball with our best headers

Yep, it’s something that’s been under his domain since the latter part of Pearson’s spell. Andy King has publicly mentioned it before

The club actually employs someone that coaches in set pieces? Fooled me.

Kolo won't go, he's Brendan's yes man mate, don't think he's had coaching job before he hooked up with Brendan but I'm may be wrong. Seems more of a helping hand in training then a serious see piece/defensive coach

And it seriously shows

Our entire first choice defence iS injured.

ALL OF THEM.

Doesn’t stop the rest of the players from learning to defend properly from corners though aye?

And when they weren’t?

I don't think we have ever actually seen our strongest defence start together have we?

Ricardo, Fofana, Evans, Justin - all have been out injured as some point which has stopped them all from starting a game together

Is he actually responsible for corners or is this like when we’d blame everything on Rudkin without actually knowing?

Defensive coach is your answer

Fofana wasn’t signed as a starter, it was only though injuries he started. The two he covered have played together loads and been shit. The full back issues haven’t been kind, but even when he could he barely played Ricardo and Castagne together.

Is it "the find someone to blame game after a defeat".   If we have all are players back and we still have a dog's turd of a defense, then we can start pointing fingers.

Yeah, because this is the first ever game that we’ve looked woeful defending a set piece

Probably just tells them to focus along with something basic like win the second ball or get in front of your man then ****s off back to his office to think about what he's having for dinner.

Makes sense. We've been consistently poor at them since before Rodgers.

I've also felt Stowell long needed to be held responsible for Kasper's refusal / inability to come off his line.

We haven't been able to defend set pieces for years now.
