Tonne, blue boar, 33 cank street, bottle garden, two tailed lion, Rutland and derby, 1573, +263. Just spent a full week in Leicester for the first time in 3 years, it’s a proper city now. Unlike when I was growing up and it was soar point, high cross, mosh

Soar Point, Highcross and Mosh was my standard night out many years ago, great times. But as you point out, there are far better places and much more variety now. The Blue Boar seemed decent enough when I went a couple of years back, a bit like how the Criterion used to be.

Same, on tuesdays that night out would cost about £15 total and you'd be smashed. Mental to think about £1 pint nights now. Soarpoint Tuesday, polar bear thursday, loaded dog sunday - great times

Good grief, pound a pint nights were a shambles weren't they! Seeing your username, have you been to the Stamford in recent times? The last time I went the food and service were excellent. Perhaps a bit pricey but worthwhile.

Had tickets for the Norwich match and a hotel for two nights. Was to be the first game for my girlfriend (who started supporting us via me a couple of years ago and is now obsessed) so she's gutted, but we're going to head to Leicester anyway because... why not?

So, apart from visiting where I grew up, what else should we do? I've not lived in the area since I was 14 so I might as well be a complete Leicester virgin.

Got a table booked at Kayal tomorrow night but apart from that, absolutely nothing planned.

Hit me with suggestions! Preferably not sarcastic, but all welcomed.

2nd January ko 15:00hrs...Leicester Tigers RFU...if Not cancelled..

Ah man we had yellow cards and then a gold card for years. £1.20a pint even on Saturdays.

Then used to go phantom in Loughborough on a Sunday after 5 a side for pound a pint night.

Monday mornings at work were hard. Not sure I'd fancy it nowdays lol

Yes i was at the Stamford on Wednesday night! Good range of ales on tap, it has improved markedly over the years and is not like the old days of the past with the weird dungeon side room and skittles alley. Never eaten there though, prefer my parents dinner 10 mins walk away! I agree, it is unnecessarily

pricey, but worthwhile.

National Space Centre or New Walk Museums are decent if you’re into that as well as the already mentioned Richard III thing. Space Centre is a couple miles out but if you do go up there you could get the steam train on the Great Central Railway to Loughborough and back.

The crazy golf course is pretty good in the Highcross and will kill an hour. A bit more difficult with two of you, but there’s a couple of places in the centre with escape room games.

Have a look at the pubs thread too. Expensive but worth popping in Cafe Bruxelles for a pint.

I'm so glad to hear Cafe Bruxelles is still going. Thought it may have been a casualty of the last couple of years.

Find it bonkers the place does not have one Belgian beer on.

Fecking @ChrisFilter asks for recommendations  for Leicester then bolloxs off to Brighton.

Taking liberties!

I blame your first response. That made me float Brighton to the gf and once I'd said that it was a done deal.
