Had tickets for the Norwich match and a hotel for two nights. Was to be the first game for my girlfriend (who started supporting us via me a couple of years ago and is now obsessed) so she's gutted, but we're going to head to Leicester anyway because... why not?

So, apart from visiting where I grew up, what else should we do? I've not lived in the area since I was 14 so I might as well be a complete Leicester virgin.

Got a table booked at Kayal tomorrow night but apart from that, absolutely nothing planned.

Hit me with suggestions! Preferably not sarcastic, but all welcomed.

TBF, I'm sure loads will nip in, but if you like shopping n stuff(NO man should like shopping. It's a rule!!!)

Highcross with its many restaurants and shops.

Bradgate park for a walk as it's nice day.

Castle gardens/ Richard 3rd area.

Riverside canal area.

King Power Club shop!!!

Or wonder round Clock tower and THEN you'll definitely be driving home!!!

Hope you enjoy!

Richard III Museum as mentioned, the Cathedral for a look at the grave and a wander round the free-to-enter Guildhall opposite, then a nearby pub or micropub (Rutland & Derby, Two-Tailed Lion, Blue Boar) or a cocktail bar like 33 Cank Street or similar if your missus is into that.

Did exactly that with mine a few months back and she enjoyed it.

Tonne, blue boar, 33 cank street, bottle garden, two tailed lion, Rutland and derby, 1573, +263. Just spent a full week in Leicester for the first time in 3 years, it’s a proper city now. Unlike when I was growing up and it was soar point, high cross, mosh

If you are into rugby at all, Tigers are playing Newcastle at Welford Road on Sunday. Oh I see that's already suggested! I would definitely recommend that though, combined with a wander to the King Power as they are close by to one another, making sure you visit the memorial garden whilst you are there.

There's match on at Barwell, between Barwell v Nuneaton Boro only a tenner to get in just a short bus ride from Leicester. Couple of decent pubs in Barwell, should be a cracker atmopshere there now.

National Space Centre or New Walk Museums are decent if you’re into that as well as the already mentioned Richard III thing. Space Centre is a couple miles out but if you do go up there you could get the steam train on the Great Central Railway to Loughborough and back.

The crazy golf course is pretty good in the Highcross and will kill an hour. A bit more difficult with two of you, but there’s a couple of places in the centre with escape room games.

Have a look at the pubs thread too. Expensive but worth popping in Cafe Bruxelles for a pint.

There are some excellent museums that are a bit more Leicester specific than bowling etc, although lane 7 is a good place for loads of stuff.

New Walk Museum and walk all the way up to Viccy park and Queens road afterwards for brunch at Dos Hermanos.

The Newarke museum and a mooch around the castle and castle park.

Deffo the Dick Richard museum and Cathedral with a drink in the globe afterwards.

Loads of nice eating places now, St Martins Square has it all plus great bars.

I would recommend The Case restaurant for a really nice meal and nice view in the evening.

I think the Cathedral is under going some extensive alterations so the Kings tomb might not be open to the public. Worth checking. The Richard III visitor attraction is well worth a couple of hours.

I think Jewry Wall museum is also under going some work but you can still view it. St Nicholas next door is one of the 5 medieval churches in the city (only City, I think, that can boast that) including the very historical St Mary De castro.

Also don't miss the Abbey ruins in Abbey Park.
