According to French media outlet Foot Mercato, City are "interested" in a move for Ekitike, who has also been linked with a transfer to Newcastle United this month. Ekitike has bagged eight goals in 17 Ligue 1 appearances this season and has registered four assists, netting five times in his last eight matches. The French wonderkid has been compared to Kylian Mbappe in some quarters and is determined to become the next big thing in French football. Ekitike has been at Reims since 2013 and it has not taken the forward long to make his mark in the game after signing professional terms in July 2020. The France Under-20 international spent part of last season on loan at Vejle Boldklub and returned from a spell in Denmark firing on all cylinders. That has shown in his start to the 20221-22 season. Relegation-threatened Newcastle are in the market for a striker with Burnley forward Chris Wood mentioned as a potential transfer target for Eddie Howe's side. So too is Ekitike, who has spoken of his desire to become the next Mbappe. "Over the last few years, he is the player I watch the most, who inspires me, and not necessarily only on the pitch," he told Foot Mercato. "That's what it means to be a top-level player and that's what I aspire to become." A price tag of around £30million is being mentioned for the player and it looks very unlikely City will part with that amount this month. In the summer, a move could be in the offing with West Ham United also said to be keen. City have used the French market in recent windows to bring in top young talent with Wesley Fofana a stand-out name. A centre-forward could be on a summer transfer shortlist with Jamie Vardy turning 36 in a year and Kelechi Iheanacho out of form after a fine 2020-21 season. 1
Popular Post Samilktray Posted 11 January 2022 Popular Post Posted 11 January 2022 Think we should sign him based off the fact he loves Kylian Mbappe 11
Brainy Posted 11 January 2022 Posted 11 January 2022 Some rise given he spent last season on loan at a newly promoted Danish side
sphericalfox Posted 11 January 2022 Posted 11 January 2022 Sounds like an agent story trying to pump up a higher Newcastle bid. 3 1
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 January 2022 Posted 11 January 2022 Just a club trying to cash in I guess. To be honest, I've never heard of him.

SecretPro Posted 11 January 2022 Posted 11 January 2022 We don't use the strikers we have properly and they are all excellent. Why would we want another? 2

Vardy literally turned 35 on the day of this article, so I guess he's right...

I'd hardly call Kele out of form. He's got 6 goal involvements in 580 odd minutes that he's played in the league. For someone who barely gets to play to produce these numbers is impressive. 7
