Pretty sure the digital only on release thing is just to stop people playing it early, I bet they'll have a disc version available that releases the day the game comes out

Doubt it they are already struggling aren’t they ? Adding a disc probably cost them 20% or more profits

The profits won't be minimal, though, will they? 

 

I mean - they aren't going to be on a breadline for having a disc version. After 13 odd years isn't GTA V still one of the most profitable games in existence? GTA VI will easily replicate that and beyond.

 

Not having a CD isn't because of profit margins, really, it's exactly as other posters have said. To ensure that future copies are bought from source and not from the 2nd had market and to throttle lending.

Getting an itch to buy a PS5 Pro ahead of this coming out...

 

After Xbox bumped their prices up today I am expecting Sony will as well at some point

 

Although if you were Sony an announcement about no more price rises this year would properly put the boot into Xbox ahead of GTA 6

It's because they will likely release one further down the line to bring in more sales then.

I'm still on my PS4.

 

This is the longest I've ever held out with buying the 'new' console.

 

Of course normally the price goes down over time, but this has been the opposite.

 

I am also in need of a good 4k TV, so it's going to be a very expensive upgrade when I finally do so.

 

This game is really the main reason I will finally do so.

 

I'm still not even sure which console to get. Used to always be an Xbox guy.

There's talk neither Series X or PS5 Pro will be able to run GTA6 at 60FPS...part of the problem with how long its taken for this game to release, these "next gen" consoles are already outdated....sad!

Pre-ordered when it was announced. Thing is I'm stuck over on Xbox, had an account on there since the mid-00's, Series X sat collecting dust, have no current gamepass/live/whatever equivalent subscription running.

 

Thing is all I'm hearing on Microsoft/Xbox is they're scaling back the business, maybe leaving the console market.

 

It look almost 2 years for GTA V to hit PC. I'd rather not have to go through the rigmorale of selling my Series X, using up my rewards points, cancel my preorder, abandon my OG gamertag to then have to buy a PS5/peripherals/subscriptions and get used to the naff controller layout with non-removable batteries just got GTA VI.

 

Faff and expensive.

The timing of doing that now isn't ideal with PS5 prices increasing again due to GTA VI and the lack of data chips. I think Xbox/ Microsoft having a chance of evening the playing field on consoles again if they commit to continue releasing games on physical discs, if they do this they could win alot of gamers back from Sony

Anyone seen any of the leaks? I'd like to think its early version footage because it visually it looked janky and dated....then again they started working on this pre current gen so either way I think it's delay will work against it!

 

I'll still play it but can't see it living up to the build/hype expected at this point.

It's been confirmed that the leakers somehow have a full working build of the game. One of the songs featured was from 2025 so that puts an age on it. It's likely from within the last 12-18 months. 

 

Looks good IMO. More akin to RDR2 than GTAV.

Well that's great...but RDR2 (which is my favourite game OAT is) released in 2018 so I'd hope it looks better. Consoles are just massively limited now I find, current gen xbox's aren't running that at anything above 30fps.

RDR2 is still one of the best looking games out there, and it’ll be superior to that - but people still need to keep expectations in check.

 

But I meant more like RDR2 in its systems. Specifically immersion and realism.
 

Looks like cars have fuel and weapons need to be retrieved from the boot. And when the police are looking for you it seems like you’ll need to change your car and / or your appearance to fully lose them.

That's sort of what I'm saying, I was blown away by it when I first played it but it was 8 years ago so I just think people will expect bigger and better (understandable considering the hype this game will have). Rockstar don't miss though so hopefully another banger!
