Really hope they can keep the humour that made 5 so great. Reason I personally never rated RDR2 as much as other people was that the dryness just removed the fun from the amazing world.

Totally different feeling games though and it wouldn't have sat as well in what was supposed to be a harsh world.

I don't get new games, I can barely play one game for more than an hour before giving it up but this one is getting purchased.

The Jason character comes across as rather passive and soulless, bereft of personality. At least judging by that clip.

 He looks like Arthur Morgan

I'm still rocking the ol' PS4, but this was always going to be the reason to finally upgrade.

Hasn't helped that for the first time in history, the prices have risen over time.

Also, how well will any of the 'current' consoles even run this game?

I assume traillers like this are being run on a high end PC.

It was only 30fps and they'd absolutely cranked up DLSS/FSR to introduce frame gen to help it.  Can tell by the reflections looking like they're getting static.

Agree on RDR2.

I've only gone and preordered the game today as well.  Amazon doing a 3 payment option for the £68, so I went for that.  It's bad timing for me cost wise though since PS+ needs renewing in the previous week to launch.

Only game I've pre ordered before was H:FW, so this had better be good.

If I'm being critical of the gameplay, the cover, aim and shoot mechanics could do with an overhaul, looks too basic.  Naughty Dog do this better than anyone imo.

Will be using built up Microsoft points to get this effectively for free.

Also didn’t greatly enjoy RDR2, main reason was the over use of random encounters which did/didn’t have large unforeseen connotations - I’d just want to horse it from A to B… commotion in the bushes, deal with it for 5mins meh, set off again, NPC voices from broken down wagon sigh, ride past it, keep going, commotion from bushes… couldn’t be bothered with it. Let me play the game at my own pace ffs.

I'm gonna throw it out there that there is next to no chance they don't keep the random encounters because it injects life into the open world.

I'd be 95% sure your complaints will persist in this game. From the trailer alone it looks to have taken a fair bit from RDR2 and rightly so, it's a masterpiece.

There are random encounters and then there's complete bombardment. I'm particularly a GTA IV veteran so know full well what freak & strangers side missions are and have been playing the series since Hare Krishnas lined up in rows to get flattened from a birdseye view.

If I can't just blow past a side mission to come back to it, or when I then trip it I have to look the encounter up on the web to see if I'll miss out on something massive if I make the wrong decision, multiple times while I just want to go from A to B it's not fun for me, it breaks the emersion. Red Dead 2 would just nag me constantly, I played Red Dead 1 in the same way and it took me a while to really get into it, but eventually had alot of fun.

Maybe it's my playstyle being that I never tend to fast travel, but I never even finished the story.

I think the story and characters are the strongest element of RDR2 so that's sad to hear but if it didnt suit how you wanted to play then fair enough!

Maybe they'll lower the frequency of random encounters but even in that game you could just ride by and it would crop up again later if you wanted to revisit it!

You got further than me!  lol

I'd had enough after running after the deer in the prologue.  In fact, I did go back to it and managed to get through the train heist at the start and corrected the bloke who took an age to attempt to wire up the explosives, but by then I'd had enough.

GTA has, and always will have, a far more entertaining environment to be in.

I read somewhere that people who have previewed the game said Rockstar have doubled down on this kind of thing. They’ll discourage you from just going mission to mission and that world building was their priority.

They dedicated an entire studio to NPCs.

i loved RDR2 but i also never got to the end, too much to do distracted me but living in that world was a lot of fun. got my pre order in for GTA 6 though, i hope its as good as i imagine. taking lots of stuff they learned from that last game
