We do currently yes.

Hiring a head physio wasn't part of the plan when we hired a doc. Be interesting to see if anyone leaves over the next few months.

Why wouldn't it be part of the plan when it's a common set up in most elite sports clubs/institutions? The club shouldn't be leaving the structure of a medical dept to a manager/coach who could change every few years - surely we have a director or football operations who's in charge of this kind of thing?

Fully agree but Rodgers got rid of rennie and said we didn't need a head physio because we were hiring a club doctor and that was more important.

Director in charge is Rudkin and by and large for the last two years theyve given Rodgers what he wants. This is interesting because he's previously said we don't need one. I'm sure @moore_94 will find a way to disagree with this though.

Where does that say we don’t want a head physio?

Pretty sure it says we wanted a full time club doctor / head of medicine because we were at the time the only club in the Prem without one.

All clubs will have both roles in their setups.

We didn't though? And when Rodgers was asked about why we let rennie go, he said it was because it was because we needed a club doctor. We haven't had a head physio for two years. And as for all clubs - they've all got different setups.

If I said the world was round would you disagree with that too?

Hopefully this changes as It's a big mistake leaving this to a manager when they chop and change all the time. Someone at the club just needs to look at what other top clubs in Football and other clubs are doing and replicate it - The likes of Man City,  NFL teams, British Olympic Association, Top Rugby Clubs etc  have a set up with a Head of Medicine & Head Physio, so no idea why we didn't go with this.

No way, I am sure Ian Patchett used to be a GP at the Doctor's on Groby Road. I remember his name because it was hilarious to me as a kid that a doctor could be called I. Patchett. Good for him if so.

Yeah that's him. My mum had cellulitis in her leg and he said it was a break.

No wonder we haven't seen half the squad this season lol

No but you would claim the earth is flat and then not be willing to listen when someone brings something else to the table.

Rodgers said Rennie was sacked because we wanted to revamp the medical team, bring in full time club doctor, and for the new head of medicine to oversee the medical side ahead of the transition to the new training ground.

So we got rid of the head physio position then to reinstate it two years later. **** me.

Well from what people are on here say there was a lot more behind Rennie leaving than that anyway.

Trainingroundguru who revealed Richmond was joining seem to be suggesting he has joined as a physio rather than a head physio anyway so pointless to carry on this conversation with you anymore. ffs.

I would say what you have posted is a perfectly reasonable explanation of events but @Chocolate Teapot doesn't seem to like any difference of opinion to his supposedly ITK knowledge. He then reverts back to his previous name of Abrasive Fox. lol

No issue whatsoever with a difference of opinion. Every problem under the sun with someone who constantly respond to my posts with a what is described as a differing view despite evidence to the contrary.

Name me if you are gonna moan about me lol childish.

Wouldn’t have to respond to your posts if there wasn’t scope for a differing view where I can also provide evidence against it.

You’re info and posts are very much appreciated, there’s a few people on here with utter arrogance who refuse to listen to another point of view and have to be right on everything unfortunately, keep doing your thing mate👍

I think people over estimate the impact of Rennie. Just happens that many factors conspired against us with fixture pileups, covid impact and some unfortunate impact injuries (in. leg breaks) which reduced the amount we could rotate players. If Rennie were here these same factors would have caused multiple injuries just the same.

We are far from the only side to have a list of unavailable players in the double figures this season, most clubs have at one point or another.

I think that whilst there's over estimating there's also considerable understating his impact though. 20 years at the club and he left shortly after having the fittest squad in the league. Over the past 10 years or so we were constantly lauded for our approach to sports science and it being ahead of the curve so it doesn't add up to me.

Just popping in here to say hi.

Congerton gone, a new physio in, who's next out?

Dunno about out but a new sport scientist/performance anaylst after Paul Balsom left? I know the club tends to take on graduates from Loughborough Uni but we've lost someone with a lot of experience in that area

Surely a football manager isn't qualified to decide who and what to employ in medical matters? Rodgers struggles with football tactics let alone anything else. As someone has already mentioned, a lead should be taken by studying other clubs and sports to see who appears to be getting it right. We weren't too shabby ourselves in 2015/6, what were we doing then that we're not now? Injuries like ACL's are clearly usually just bad luck however, the amount of hamstring Injuries we've been suffering seems quite disproportionate.

Fascinated to see if Rodgers is OK with all of this as essentially there's staff who he had a huge part in bringing in are being gotten rid of. He's managed to distance himself from taking the blame for our problems but will his ego let his men take the fall and him not be aggrieved for the club essentially taking back some control over areas of the way its ran.
