With Storm Eunice arriving tomorrow and supposedly being the worst strom to hit Leicestershire in 30 years, here's a thread to share/enjoy/be horrified at the carnage.

High spring tides aswell in Cornwall and Devon which means flooding is pretty much guaranteed once the wind whips up.

This is a very dangerous intensifying extratropical cyclone packing a sting jet which looks to be funnelling directly over the South West. Picture a low level jet stream, enhanced and channeled by an explosively deepening depression, and then think October 1987. This is not going to be pretty. If you can stay at home tomorrow absolutely do. Stay off the road unless absolutely necessary - and if you get away with nothing more than a missing fence panel, be grateful. Storm Dudley ripped out several branches of my Elder last night - but there is also a 65 ft willow next door which is similarly brittle and most of the boughs overhang my garden. The sting jet itself at the end of the cold conveyor is very narrow, and so very hard to forecast, but it looks as though the strongest winds will be felt across Cornwall, Devon, the Bristol Channel and into South Wales.

This one looks really quite concerning, hopefully it's just a few wheelie bins and trampolines flying about but I fear not.

Within the narrow funnel of the sting jet itself, it could be as severe if not worse than the Great Storm of October 1987.

Looks like this could be a significant event with widespread damage and destruction.

 

If you don't need to travel tomorrow, don't.

I’m normally completely unphased by these stories after years of tabloids threatening the end of the world, but I am insisting on taking the missus to work tomorrow just in case.
