Whilst Selby, McGill, Hawkins etc aren't the most exciting, they are definitely more enjoyable to watch then Ebdon, Dott or Griffiths back in their primes.

Has Dott changed his game?  I can't remember what he was like 20 years ago, but the matches I've seen in the past couple of seasons he's incredibly attacking and good to watch.

He was very dour 20 odd years ago. His world final win in 2006 against fellow insomnia curer Ebdon was hard to watch.

On the mention of boring players, as I’ve said in Snooker threads before, never go and watch Neil Robertson live. I’ve seen many players at the Crucible over the years including Selby & Hawkins, I’d rather pay £90 for premium seats to watch those two instead of Robertson.

The best value in watching Dott is his interviews. High pitched girly Scottish voice, and it always makes me chuckle.

Agreed, and his constant walking around the table doing his practice shots wind me up....almost as much is Higgins constantly sticking his tongue out after every pot.

Yeah that does my head in too. Constantly practicing exactly where he wants his next shot to be from.

Exactly that mate, I’ve watched him live twice, and his constant walking around the table is even more annoying in person.

The ungenerous sods at the Crucible have put premium seats in nowadays, the talk on here of boring players got me thinking, who would I happily pay £90 to watch.

Of the top 16, I’d only pay top whack for 4 of them, Ronnie, Trump, Williams & Zhao.

Brecel never looked in this match and it looks like he's going out at the first hurdle, again.

Gutted for him not to have an opportunity to face some of the "lazy" British players.

Depends what time of form some of top players are in.

Like Higgins on break building form and Mark Allen is entertaining at his best. A  poor Mark Allen is barely worth the entry fee.

Agreed with those calls on Higgins & Allen, they’d be on my second tier list.

Rest of the top 16 I feel very indifferent by.

The likes of Murphy & Lisowski can turn to shit in a click of a finger. Selby, Wilson, Yan & McGill I’d put in the same category, good when they get going, but can be boring to watch when things get scrappy. Bingham, good break builder but always been meh imo.

Kyren Wilson goes for lots of shots, but there's something about him that's just very vanilla. Probably his break building which is very by the numbers and not very creative.

His c-3po dance before every shot doesn't help.

Its a very interesting point and I think a lot of likeability comes down to manner around the table as well as their actual play. Wilson's shot choices and Bingham's break building should make them close to box office but neither are even as close as the Trump, O'Sullivan, etc crew.

The most annoying thing I find with Wilson is that he wanks off his cue before every shot.

Couldn’t watch him live, I’d burst out laughing.

Anyone going to the Crucible this year?

Went a few years ago for some 2nd round matches and got lucky with who I saw. Might try to get tickets for 2023.

PS I can't watch Judd Trump, a show off rather than a showman and a little manlet to boot.
