Those Birstall hills I wasn't warned about lol. Saw a bloke and a girl sat down being bottle fed water by the marshalls, it was like a scene from outside wetherspoons at kick out time

Haha that’s where doing some hill training comes in handy. It’s crazy how bad you can feel on them when you have been feeling decent.

On a side note, how the **** does anyone actually drink any of the water they give in them plastic cups?

I was laughing my head off. Some bloke had one and must have kept hold of it for a while and then at the bit where they were handing out celebrations and heroes he's bombed the fcuker in there and had to apologise 😂😂😂😂😂

Ditto. Was considering playing football tomorrow but that’s not happening. Probably could do with seeing a physio about my knee but will see if I can shake it off with rest.

I stupidly said to my other half that I might try to run a marathon every quarter next year but if this is anything to go by that’s a long way off.

Had a similar conversation over the weekend (enthralling I know) about people using camelbacks etc on 5/10km runs. Especially when many of them preach to be healthy/eat clean/hydrate well etc.

Surely, to me, if you’re well hydrated, during a 5-10km run there’s no need to take on water, let alone carry it around.

Granted this might be untrue on an especially hot day.

There's absolutely no way I'm carrying water on a 10K. Decent hydration starting a few days before and a decent glass of water followed by a p*ss an hour prior to the run and I'm sorted. 10K for a lot of people is between 35 and 55 minutes running, that would be like taking water on my pre-work morning run. Can't see the sense unless it's 30c out.

Can't stomach only doing trail running this winter with how shit it's been already so will be finally giving in to the boredom that is road running.

Until I get an injury in the 1st week that is

It REALLY IS!

I've been running for years and done loads of half marathons and 10k's(not especially fast times!) but this year I've really struggled with the boredom and monotonousness (not a word i know).

Resorted to volunteering on Sunday(Danielle Brown Car Park in morning then litter collecting at Vicky Park) which was equally as boring.

Need to get some mojo back which will be hard in these damp, dark colder days!

I'm blaming it on my age(53) for being so bored of it (and LCFC!) ...Mrs reckons I'm turning into Victor Meldrew(A Brown version obviously!)

Legs have just about recovered. Blisters on each foot definitely haven't. Time to spend big on good running shoes. Looking back on Sunday though I loved it, will definitely do more.

My legs, specifically my calves are still done in so I’m probably not going to do much running until I play football next weekend but will be back in the gym working upper body tomorrow.

I always feel really guilty for having time off despite what’s gone before it so I’m bound to do something stupid before long.

Anyone ever done the Prestwold hall runs and are they worth the 30'odd quid?

Also, the Harborough Tunnel vision run looks like it might be something a bit different

Tunnel Vision runs are great!

Yeah thats the one!

Standard kind of Run Through event where they fit 13.1 miles into a 2 mile radius. There’s a really beautiful part of the course as you head out to Wymeswold but the bit at the airfield both at the start and finish is mind numbing. You must cover at least 5 miles on the airfield.

Hoping this works and you can see the map…..you’re more than welcome to find my strava and have a look at the route properly.

It’s a race where I completely di**ed around and fell out with my friend along the way.

Ah, thanks

Was considering doing the 10k there in a couple of weeks, mainly because I'm looking to do a few 10k before the Leicestershire Half in February. Had this on the list, plus the Mallory Park 10k in January but thats a lot of time (and money) to stare at an airfield and a race track...

I've just signed up for the February half as i needed another event to motivate me.

I did the 10K there about 18 months ago, it is a bit boring just doing laps of the circuit and the home straight with the wind against you is a nightmare.

hoping that the HM going out on to the roads will at least be something a bit more interesting.

Been in an absolute rut this week, this will be first since earlier in the year I'll be going into the weekend having not clocked any miles yet. It's a shame because the past two days have been perfect conditions and I just couldn't motivate myself to get out the door.
