what trainers have you gone for? I did gait test and over pronate a bit so gone for some asics gel Kayano (stability) think they are called. Also bought some asics Novablast 5 they are very springy but do get some foot pain on longer runs - better suited to neutral runners I think

Got Asics as well but Superblast 2. I’m a sucker for buying something that online posers say is good and these features on loads of YouTube videos with great reviews and were difficult to buy.

They seem decent so far but I’ve only done 5k in them, might go for a longer one on Sunday but I generally feel very unfit compared to 3 or 4 months ago so it’s a struggle.

Was going to go for a run this morning and woke up to hearing all kinds of hell outside so bailed. New year new me.

Weather not as bad as expected so popped out for a 5k into town and back.

Comically slow, but given I went out for a curry last night and was on the whisky and Buckfast after it probably went as well as could be expected

Yeah I gave Parkrun a miss yesterday. Just went out in the afternoon.

Deciding which long run to target - considering a longer training programme and targeting Birmingham Half. With picking up Leicester 10k in March along the way

Had a go at a parkrun last Saturday with the remnants of a chest infection.

Managed to get back in 17:12 which isn't too bad considering I was struggling to breathe.

Last 5 days has been slow running only and whilst the legs are feeling great, the chest is still dodgy...just got to wait it out I guess.

Coming in a thread titled how fast can you run 5k and telling us how fast you can run 5k? You’ve got some nerve.

Was tongue in cheek.

Hopefully you'll post a decent time when the chest infection clears lol

I'm looking to work my way through the rest of the Leicestershire Park runs this year.

I've only done Braunstone, Ibstock and Abbey park so far. All decent in their own way.

Going to do the Coventry half at the end of April too, which should be a PB seeing as I'll want out asap.

Hastings in Burbage is the absolute pits, my local one.

I did my fastest 10km the Friday before Xmas at 48 mins. Had a nice run with the brother-in-law over Xmas but had to borrow some trainers (same brand and model as mine) but think they were narrower and my feet and shins/ankles felt it.

Didn't then run until a week or so after and legs still don't feel right, ran again yesterday and everything hurt but glad to get the 1st one of 2025 done. Not looking to rest though as just booked Bath Two Tunnells Half in Feb and went for the hilly route, could regret that.

It didn't look very good when I was searching through them, so was thinking of getting that one out the way first lol

27mins at the Abbey Park PR today, only my second time doing it, so am pleased with that. Been doing a lot 5ks on the treadmill, different game outside on cold days like this!

Do Belvoir Castle before it goes back to its summer course! Market Bosworth is so much better in wet weather as when the ground is dry some of the course can be a little bit ankle turning.

It’s much better now there’s a path around there. It’s my local and I have to admit that I avoid it like the plague however Christmas Day was really good fun there

After a really ‘off’ few months I ‘raced’ at Oundle today and I’m good with 27:06 on an undulating bloody freezing cold course.

Hoping to get back into the 25 minute bracket sooner rather than later but need to remember that I’m 46
