Final few weeks marathon training. Not entirely following the suggested mileage as my knees are starting to feel it, but sticking to the big runs.

14 miles on (mostly) flat, allowed some space to absolutely gun it. Achieved a 25 min 5k within. Proper made up.

What marathon are you doing?

Just entered the Leicester half, never done an event before lol gonna do a couple of park runs then maybe a 10k somewhere before.

Ran a 15k in hour and half at the weekend so should be pretty comfortable by the time it comes around.

Just tried the Bosworth half marathon route ahead of the race on Sunday. Lovely stuff, didn't see a moving vehicle for the first half of it.

Did have to stop for a Richard III and got lost but 1hr 43 is a PB by 5 mins. Now to follow it up with a 1hr 45 in an official race and I can rest up for the year 😂😂

Have a good one Ric and good luck going for the PB, I'm marshaling this one in Sutton Cheney before you go up the gated Road into Bosworth. Let me know when passing if you need any bog roll lol

Made my Parkrun return earlier. Nowhere near 100% despite a massage really helping the hammy. It’s gonna be a long road now of chugging away

I did Beacon Hill parkrun for the first time. Quite a challenge, particularly the 1st mile but absolutely loved it!

Been meaning to get over and do that, is it as hilly as I'd expect it to be?

Oooh yer bastard!!!

It’ll be a slog but it’s a challenge, especially as I feel a bit out of shape.

Got the Great North Run the month before as well.

Just did the Berlin 25k.  Most I've ever run.

Don't care about the time, this was all about not giving up.  Finished on the track in the Olympic Stadium.

I am utterly buckled of body, right now.

I need restorative Bier and Bratwurst, stat.

That sounds amazing!! Wish, I was there, lovely city, so much to see and do. And drink!

Yeah pretty much although I'd expected a bit harder  and a worse time. It starts at the lower car park, winds up through the trees to near the trig point. Then it does a steep down and quite uphill rectangle behind the upper car park and back to lower car park on same route. The views are fantastic. The start was quite narrow but cleared quickly as total numbers not that big. I was blowing like mad near the top and then on the loop bit. The last km is fantastic though if you're got anything left. Definitely go and try it, I'll do it again. I'd say it would be much better when dry.

Finally got a place for the Eryri marathon this year. Will be a tough one lol

It’s not as tough as you think! It’s the most magical marathon and the best advice I can give you to look behind you.

There’s only 3 climbs and a lot of downhill. Everyone apart from the winner walks the 3rd climb but be warned….the descent from that one is hairy!

Eryri was my PB course for a while and I found it quicker than Brighton. It really is a brilliant marathon and the finish line at Llanberis is amazing. I’m actually really jealous

I have a cracking scar on my knee from that parkrun as I fell over there last year.

Thanks mate, it was your recommendation that made me look into it.

I’ll be running with a friend who is likely slower so a PB is off the cards but I’ll be happy with finishing tbf. I’ve ran that distance once and I couldn’t walk when I finished.

You can do it as a relay (5 x 5k) and a team run (a course around the Olympic Park you do together). Obviously argument over who finishes at the Olimpiastadion on the relay tho.

That's a good way of doing that event and still having a good weekend enjoying yourself.

Doing Lucca Parkrun in a couple of weeks, which is just a loop of the city via the City Walls. Should be a pretty scenic route!

I’ve wanted to do the one nearby Lecce in Italy, largely because a time of 29 minute would win it

5x5km trail race tomorrow, it piqued my interest when looking at the 2025 race calendar. Now it's nearly upon me and battling a stinking cold for over a week, I'm not quite so excited 😂😂

Done zero training for on/off running on the hour every hour for 5 hours, but hoping the weekly distance i average is more than sufficient. Again, not really done much trail running so could be a whole different ball game. Will try and enjoy it.
