I went out this morning, abandoned after 1k as the cold I have wasn’t having any of it.

I can't actually believe I'm about to say this, but I'm enjoying running.

Some days I don't do much, I'm following an app plan to do a 10k, so yesterday was only 4.5k for example but I felt loads better for being out there.

I'm not good time wise by any stretch, but it doesn't matter, I'll worry about that for 2026's Rothley 10k! Averaging about 5:40 per km pace wise on the runs I've done so far. Probably quite rightly in my case, the app tries to pace you to a target and it feels so slow and its actually hard to run as slow as it wants you to on the "easy runs".

Would love to get sub 50 at some point for a 10k, but I've never ran that far so I don't know what I can do now to give me a guide.

Just sticking to the plan and keep on running for now!

That’s a good time don’t put yourself down.

That’s a decent pace.

You could try running at the pace you want for 10k but shorter distances. 3k in 15 minutes and try build it up. I never thought I’d be able to get below 25 minutes for a 5k and I’ve recently got it down to 22 minutes, keep at it and it’ll drop

26:22 just now, quickest for a while but didn't feel remotely fast.

Going for a sports massage in a bit to get some life pummeled into these creaky old limbs

Hope your legs get some relief as well mate.

Marathon in 2 days. Got as much as I can prepared. Few people have advised me to start putting in more carbs couple of days ahead of time, so I packed in a few pastries yesterday and will keep an eye on more today. Such hardship.

Yeah do that, and also take plenty of electrolyte drinks from now until the day as well.

Good luck.

Hydration, Hydration, Hydration - get plenty of liquids in the run up rather than trying to drink loads on the day (especially on the morning of the race, all it will do is make you need a piss after 5k)

Ran my furthest recorded run today, just a shade over 7k in 41:47, definitely need to revise my thoughts of a sub 50 minute 10k. Would be lucky to break an hour!

Not sure if I was feeling it from the run on Wednesday alongside 18 holes yesterday,  but I felt like I got into the run ok. Not sure I could actually make 10k at the minute though, felt like my legs had gone by the time I reached my front door again!

When I play 18 holes I do feel it the next day to be fair and i never do 3 activities 3 days on the spin so it gives my body time to recover. Personally I'd get to running 10k without stopping then start looking at times they'll soon come down if you are running 2/3 times a week. When you do you might want to look to having an easy day the day before.

Done a 32km (20 miles) this afternoon. Think it's the third time I've done 30k plus now. Went better than previous ones where my legs just literally gave up on me after about 25km.

This time my moving time was 3 hours 2 mins. Elapsed time longer so can add 20 mins on to that with filling drinks bottle up, toilet breaks, checking the map and shaking leg pain off 🤣

Generally happy with it, didn't go over the 6 mins per km mark until 28km in so that's good.

I did my best ever 10k last night outside of the one organised event I did, in 42:45. So being able to run the whole 20 miles today I'm pleased about.

Still don't like that distance though. When you start sneaking towards 24/25k it really takes impact on the legs and body and I keep forgetting how badly. I'm sat here now absolutely ****ed and cold. Feel I could get into bed and stay there 🤣 don't get this after half marathon distance!

Went to the new parkrun over in Swadlincote this morning….first lap makes you question your life choices but the next 2 aren’t too bad. I think in the right conditions it has PB potential (I can’t run ‘fast’ on flat courses, undulating for the win!)

A month out from my next 10k where I was hoping to go sub 45 and today I couldn't even finish. Got to 8k and threw the towel in, legs were gone, lungs had nothing. Mad to think this time last month I felt so strong and today as the k's ticked over it was like the first time I had ever gone that distance

I usually run at abbey park but first time at Beacon Hill PR today, just to see how I would cope with the hills. That is some course and pretty happy with my time. Nice setup up with the cafe at the finish line too

Did my first parkrun this morning. Want to desperately break the 20 mins barrier. Fuming with myself as I got 20:26, my second best time ever.

I lightly jogged the 4k to get to the parkrun, but soon knew I wasn't physically capable of a PB, legs ached and shin splints hurt a bit too. Truth is I've put far too much on the legs recently. I should have had a couple of days off but didn't stupidly. Also should have started closer to the front than I did.

Racked up a total of 220k for the month, which is good but too much.

Absolutely determined I'll get the sub 20 mins on my next one which won't be soon as I'm working Saturday mornings coming up. It's literally my only ambition right now 😂 I know I'm capable just need to stop tiring the body out

Set a PB today of 22.19, I usually run longer distances as training for first marathon in October but that’s the first time I’ve really kept an eye on my time/speed over that distance. Any tips for getting under 22 mins or is it simply a case of running that distance more often amongst the longer runs?

There’s nothing fun about the Sutton Fun Run. It has to be one of the hilliest routes I’ve ever ran. 8.5 miles feels like 13. Anyway decent run at my level at the moment - 1hr 16 over 13.6k
