do you eat anything before you run? this is why i can't do it when i wake up, i need a big meal then at least 2 hours for it to digest

Nope - drink of water and I’m out the door. I only do between 5 and 10k mind you. Sunday long runs and I’ll have a bit of Soreen then go

How quickly do you think my long distance fitness will have dropped? Marathon was nearly 4 weeks ago and longest I’ve run since was 10 miles last week, but I’m tempted to go out tomorrow and see how far I’ll get running and walking. Wondering if doing 20 miles, with probably at least a quarter of them being walked and the running being really slow.

You'd be absolutely fine

Recommendations for a basic running watch that I can track runs and play YouTube Music on to Bluetooth headphones?

Don't need much more than that.

Garmin watches are compatible with YouTube Music. Some of the models you can download playlists on to the watch and don't need your phone connected to it via BlueTooth to play whilst out running.

Did 21k instead of the above. Plodded along slowly and walked about 5k of it down the canal to Foxton Locks. Nice to not be chasing a time for a change.

Before any morning run, events included as they're always 9/10am...I eat barely anything. At most a banana and a protein porridge pot with tea/coffee. Stomach is a bit dodgy at the best of times to have more at that time 🤣

for my half I nailed 260grams of carbs 3 hours pre race at 6am. Hideous

Went for a run the other day which felt really comfortable despite my pace being quite quick for myself. Apparently my Garmin thought I was in Zone 5 for almost 20 minutes.

I checked my max heart rate and it’s set to 202 on my watch. I’m 35 years old, so already 202 was quite high in respect of the 220-age calculation, which I know isn’t always precise or ideal for everyone. Anyway, bumped my max heart rate up to 210 on the watch and my zones seem better aligned. After my 10k race tomorrow I’ll try and do a max effort next week to gauge my true max hr.

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to having a high max?

I'm your age, never been arsed about heart rate in the slightest.

Yeah, i tend to be the same. I have been looking at it as a marker of progress to when I started. The zone’s just threw me off a bit as I assumed being in zone 5 for so long should’ve had me feeling like I was on the edge of death, not that I could do it all again :D

10k race today, my first running event. Never been happier to be taking a dump at 6am. It’s probably what I’ve worried about the most.

Clowne half marathon for me on Sunday. Final race of the year and then a weeks rest before marathon training starts.

THAT'S JUST TYPICAL, THAT'S WHAT IT IS.

Whilst not far from me, I don’t know much about Clowne other than it is the cheapest square on the Sheffield Monopoly board and the square is sponsored by Biffa bins waste company.

Enjoy your trip to Clowne

Don't want to be crapping yourself half way.

Feel like I've been ran over by a Biffa Bin truck after that. Some naughty hills.

Managed 47:59 at the Silverstone 10k. Chuffed with it given I started properly training 4 months ago.

The event on the whole was ok. Felt as though there were too many people there though. Was pretty slow getting started and dodging the traffic, but probably helped my pace in a way.

A lot of events are like that at the start, but like you say helps you to sort your pace out early doors.

Sounds class pal. Spend the entire run discussing Cassano and David Platt - not their former player but the scrote from Coronation Street. Gail's lad.

No one took the bait sadly. Gorgeous morning though, just the wind off the sea was fierce. Course I was the only one there in t shirt x ingerlund grit

I'm trying not to panic but I think I may have plantar faciitis. This is a nightmare if so for my plans. Anyone suffer/suffered with it that can tell ne what I need to do, hopefully its just a warning and I can do whatever is needed to recover and keep it under control.

I am not kidding when I say the run was to the scene of old blokes fishing out of the sea and literally whacking Octopus against rocks to kill it and then the random moment where near the meeting point/finish point, there was a gang of kids letting off those huge flash bombs which make a right rocket noise.
