Possibly the most insane parkrun course I’ve done so far!

2.5 laps meaning that you do the curly wurly bit 3 times and you can see both the start and finish points the whole time.

Need a new daily shoe recommendation. Loved my Novablast 5s but foam is totally dead after just 395km amd starting to hurt my feet which I deem poor tbh.

Got Adizeros for my quicker runs.

Any suggestions?

If you can film your gait on a treadmill from 4 angles stick it in chatgpt and see what it comes back with. I did and its sorted out my knee pain properly. Save yourself going to a shop and getting ripped off for the privilege.

Nike Zoom Fly 6 or Saucony Azura

The Sauconys look a decent option. The Flys got a Carbon plate? Not sure id get much mileage out of them!

It’s a strange one. Yea they do have a full length carbon plate but aren’t a quick race trainer. I average 300/350 miles out of them (this is my preferred mileage before I change shoes)

I’ve put my life well and truly in Garmins hands tomorrow morning with this route.

Ended up doing this today as I’ve come down with something. Still felt like shit making this absolutely disgusting. The elevation was significantly worse than what my watch predicted as well and the distance about another KM further, dead

Had some Sauconys for about 3 years. Still going strong!

Ended up with the Saucony Endorphin Azuras and have to say what a brilliant recommendation they are.

First impressions: I paid a mere £112 for them on offer in the Pink and Green colourway, what a sexy shoe.

Bit firmer than im used to, but with that stack height im sure they will loosen up a bit. Not that it matters as they are the most comfortable shoes ive run in. The build quality is fantastic. Gusseted tongue and elasticated laces at that price point is a great bonus.

The first is true to size and perfect. Really comfortable.

Considering they are marketed as a rival to the EVO SLs, yeah the SLs are faster, but the comfort (laces especially) and build quality absolutely knock socks off the evos.

Cheers pal!

I ran in mine today and thought what a great everyday shoe they are. For the price they are, they are absolutely spot on.

Did the Leicester Big 10K today. Wind was a killer but took a whole 2 minutes 20 seconds off my PB.

Finished in a new PB of 45:30

Buzzing with that.

Very good! I think I got what is a Personal Worst, but that's what you get when you've not really trained

Anyone had Achilles trouble before? Been ongoing for a couple of weeks and when it seems to improve it gets worse again

Toned down the running gear this week by my standards because of it. Just a hard or sharp pain right down when I put weight on it. Didn't run yesterday and feels a bit better today but I so want to do even a small ish run after work today but not sure if that's wise or not. Absolutely hate having more than one day off from running unless I'm tapering for an event.

Common in your 30s apparently, why is it all these injuries hit you in the mid 30s? 🤣

I had it pretty bad a couple of months ago, so I switched up running for cycling and swimming and then luckily (or unluckily based on the fact I now haven’t got a legit reason to pull out of my ultra) that did the trick.

Just been back up to Ashbourne to run my final long run before the taper. The nav on my watch was a long way from being as good as it was last week, and lead to me having to completely abandon the route. When I got to 21k it still said I had 29k left so I turned around and ran back down the Tissington Trail.

Thats pretty open for a lot of it, and it’s windy as **** so it’s about killed me. 10k left it’s pissing it down as well. All in all, the sort of experience which makes you really question your life choices 😂

Impressive again mate considering the elevation. Must be knackered!

Yeah I'll get on the bike I think soon but will try a run in a bit see how it goes. Hate sitting around

I used to get it. Just had to rest it. Every time I tried to come back too soon, so did the pain.

Made me realise that I need firmer shoes that are more stable - and these newer, really soft bouncy shoes just don't seem to work for me.

Well done that’s a great time.

i got a PB of 53mins today at the same, felt like I could’ve done faster but I went out too quick and couldn’t maintain.

That's great. I was targeting that sort of time two years ago but to say I've gone off the boil would be an understatement.

It turns out a cans/biscuit based lifestyle in your 50s doesn't lead to athletic excellence, who knew?

Tube strike Tues - Fri next week, which if it goes ahead is going to cause chaos for marathon participants having to collect their gear from Excel beforehand.

The Fri/Sat there is bad enough apparently and can take hours. I was intending to go on Wednesday as will be in London, if anyone needs their race number picking up, let me know 😂

I'm only staying over on the Saturday night - but have now decided to drive there and back on Friday to collect my number. Plus it means I can avoid the Millwall game, so it's win/win!

Weirdly excited for the expo - can't wait to point at my name on the wall like a dork.
