Just went on Strava as I didn’t know you could see what others had been doing by segments and this has about killed me.

I dont wear a running watch as I just love my G-Shock Square but have been thinking of getting just a basic Garmin Forerunner 55 to wear whilst running, but then if I'm not wearing it all the time I guess I lose all the HR, Recovery and Sleep data potential and then if I am wearing it all the time I have to sacrifice the G-Shock (and the Garmin is ugly). One of life's greatest conundrums.

I recently got a Garmin and absolutely love it. Doesn’t look too bad but if the situation calls for it I just wear a watch then stick the Garmin back on when home.

Random question, has anyone ever had a hernia in their groin? How prominent/painful was it?

For about 6 years, I’ve had issues on and off. Recently it gets quite soft during and after long runs and I can feel a small bump there but I’m not sure if this is just muscle or a tendon.

Has anybody signed up to do the Market Harborough Half Marathon?

Im tempted, but that route looks absolutely brutal.

No but I've done it before. If the route is the same then the hill at around mile 11 is horrid. And a photographer sits on the top to take your picture!!!

Having said that I quite enjoyed it and decent support on the roads.

Edit-- forget all that, it's a completely new route!!

How many miles do you lot tend to put through your trainers? I bought a pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS 25 late December that have been great for me, but I’m thinking they might have started to feel a little flat / dead. I’m on about 250 miles and since buying them I thought I’d buy a new pair at 300 miles and rotate / slowly retire the former pair.

It depends on the shoe itself but I think you are getting there. Stick your hand in them and feel where your toes land, how much cushion is still in them? Then check the bottom, much sign of wear?

Ive got some ASICS Superblast 2s with 500 miles in them which are still going strong but are showing signs of damage now.

Will check the inside tomorrow. I checked the bottom of them the other day and they looked almost brand new tbh. I reckon I could buy a new pair in a few weeks time and the current pair could become my bad weather pair.

OK so we've declared the Harborough Half too hilly. Has anyone done the Bosworth Half? If so, what's that like?

Also, why is PowerOf10 now so ****ing awfully shite and when will someone bring back RunBritainRankings instead.

I did the Sportsshoes Podium event at Leicester Cycle Track (Glenfield/New Parks area) on Saturday for the first time. Really enjoyable and an eye opener as to how many insanely quick runners there are, even outside of the elites.

I came out with a huge 5k PB of 17:49 (17:22 on Strava/Garmin - if only). Real confidence boost going into London in a few weeks!

5k has tended to be the distance that I've struggled the most with, I think there's something about short-term intense struggle that I'm just not on board with. I prefer the long drawn out struggle of a 10k or Half - which is perhaps why I follow our wonderful club.

I’ve done it twice. It’s not my favourite however it’s a decent event. The gated road part makes you question your life choices though!

Both times I’ve run it, the weather has been insanely hot for the time of year!

I didn't find it too hilly, but the heat last year is what buried me. Ran it the week before as a reccy as I live nearby and got my unofficial half marathon PB that still stands today at 1hr 43.

Turns out, very little! Will keep them going until the end of the month then on to the next pair.

Got to run 22 miles tomorrow and I’ve just gone out and got my fastest 5K time in 4 years as a warm up. That is probably a ridiculous mistake 😂

No, but I'm doing it this year.

I'm a trail runner really, and it's just a nice country setting for me if I'm gonna do roads.

Hill wise, there's a bit of a climb up the gated road getting towards the finish, but that's about it.

Wakefield 10k, ran it pretty comfortably not going for a PB and ended up getting one on both chip (46:16) and watch (45:52), felt really good and didn't have to try and put any pace down. I then had the pleasure of 19k home which wasn't a joy and ended up being one of the toughest things I have done as I was hitting hills towards the end. Sheffield half next week and Manchester marathon in 5 weeks.
