Signed up to Carsington Water 10k next Saturday on a whim. Not raced above 5k for nearly a year but should be fine.

After walking around Carsington Water I promised myself that I’d never ever run there…..good luck!

Monsal half was a decent event. Very flat and quite scenic. I think my only criticism has been mentioned before and it’s how narrow the track is. At the start and near the end it can get quite congested.

I needed to do a 23 mile long run this weekend and couldn’t carry on with it yesterday so I’ve gone out and done another 10 mile top up this morning. Quite looking forward to doing nothing today now.

Is it an out and back? I’ve done a couple of jogs there before and I can’t imagine it being much fun! At least Tissington is point to point

Yeah it’s out and back. It’s not too bad, not the most scenic but enough to keep me going and flat. It was my other halves first half marathon and I wouldn’t have done it otherwise.

I accidentally crashed a 10K race there a few years back and they encouraged me to go through the finish and gave me a medal!

Easiest race I’ve seen to do exactly that to be fair.

The warmer weather today was noticeable. I started running mid summer last year so I didn’t go from running in the cold to warmth. Will my body adjust? Because that felt tough :D

Yeah it's getting warm out there already isn't it.

Seemed to bump my heart rate up a bit.

My plan has got my down for 25 miles this weekend. Ideally, I want to go out to somewhere with hills and trails so I can replicate my race by using poles etc. Can anyone think of anywhere closer than Derby Dales?

Ideally I will catch a train so I don’t have to drive after.

It's peak week in London Marathon training this week before the taper. My body is creaking a little but nothing too concerning just yet.

My training since I was ill at the start of February has been decent and managed to get some good long runs under my belt, with two 30kms in recent weeks and one of them was 10 seconds per km under my target pace so hoping the stars align on the day for sub 4hrs.

Got a good route planned for this weekend for my final 20 miler and then i'll move to obsessing about the day itself.

Looks like Tissington is probably about the best bet if I need to drive to it. Can you remember if there are points where you can get off the railway track and go up the hills?

How's the shoulder pain coping? That was the thing that surprised me most, particularly after 15 miles.

I know you can on Monsal but not sure on Tissington. Looking on Footpath it doesn’t look like there’s any paths off the trail except.

Who needs paths 😂 (come back to this thread when you see that some twat has died after getting lost in Derbyshire)

At least you’ll miss the inevitable end of season woes…..

Footpath is a great app and have saved my ‘let’s just see where this goes’ runs so many times

Having issues with my tendon on the outside of my hip which is causing me a fair bit of pain.

Guess I've increased the mileage too quickly, very frustrating. Whenever one problem goes away I seem to get another. Feeling like Aaron Ramsey over here!

I’ve put my life well and truly in Garmins hands tomorrow morning with this route.

Had to bail on this as I’ve got the lurgy. Hopefully it’s pissed off by the weekend.

Last long run of the training plan and absolute buzzing with how that just went!

The sub 3:30 marathon dream is well and truly alive 😀

Been some journey over the last 9 months.
