LCFC Women goalkeeper Janina Leitzig has received a nomination for the February Player of the Month award for her performances against Manchester City and Liverpool.
- Janina Leitzig shortlisted for Barclays Women's Super League award
- Shot-stopper recognised for her performances during February
- Voting to open at 11am on Friday 17 February

Setting the record for the most saves in a Barclays Women’s Super League contest, Janina denied a plethora of Manchester City efforts in a stellar performance between the sticks before succumbing to Khadija Shaw’s header in the 61st minute of the game.

Going one step further, the shot-stopper was able to keep a clean sheet in the following fixture as the Foxes secured their second three points of the season following a 1-0 victory away from home over an in-form Liverpool.

The German faces competition from Manchester United's Hannah Blundell, Tottenham Hotspur's Bethany England, Chloe Kelly of Manchester City and Aston Villa duo Jordan Nobbs & Kirsty Hanson.

Voting opens at 11am on Friday 17 February, with the poll closing at 10am Monday 20 February. To cast your vote, please click HERE.

Former Leicester City Women manager Lydia Bedford has joined Arsenal Women as an assistant coach. The 35-year-old spent her formative coaching education with the Football Association before taking the Leicester job in 2021.

Bedford was sacked by Leicester in November 2022, shortly before the Foxes played against Arsenal. Coach Jonas Eidevall stated his surprise at the decision at the time.

“I was surprised to see that they changed. From the outside, just purely looking at the results, I think we all know it’s a result-based business, so there’s not a surprise if you don’t win any games that they might change the coach, but I was surprised, given that when you prep for playing them, I think Leicester was one of the better-coached teams in the league.

“They looked very well structured with all players trying to make the most of that idea. When we have been preparing for them, I think that I’ve seen a lot of development of the Leicester side, so for me, I was very surprised when I got the news yesterday and I hope that Lydia, as a fellow coach, can see that progress even if she didn’t get the reward from it points-based but I think she has improved them performance wise. I think that’s the nature of the game.”

Bedford is the second addition to the coaching staff after Patrik Winqvist joined in January. Bedford comes in following the departure of Leanne Hall in January. Bedford visited London Colney shortly before Christmas and I guess now it is clear why!

Back after the international break this Sunday, away to Man United, 12:30pm Kick Off on BBC Two

Remy Siemsen is in full training now so be nice if she's involved and Jess Sigsworth can't be far away either, tough game, probably similar to the Man City one a few weeks back but be nice to keep up the performances, other teams in the relegation fight have it tough this next week too.

Reading have got West Ham at home

Brighton are away to Chelsea (Weds)

Spurs are away to Man City

Liverpool are away to Arsenal (Weds)

2-0 down. Going to be a routine win for Man U as expected. The games against the other sides around the bottom will be more important.

Yeah, this one was always a write-off, free-hit, call it what you will. Getting anything against the big four is a total bonus; it's the other games that matter.

Getting Siemsen in and some proper game time (like the idea of her + Cain with Whelan behind going forward) and giving Reavill a go against arguably the best opposition possible in Toone will do her well in the long run

Not entirely sure why they pick games like these for TV, us against Liverpool or Spurs or Villa would make for better tele

...the concept of a press just does not appear to be something that we understand!!!

A lot of pointless chasing at the top of the pitch with United always having a spare man on their right who never get picked up. If you want to press then it needs to be better organised.

We are still poor on the ball, not taking responsibility and putting each other under pressure.

That keeper Leicester have is ridiculous. Only saw about 20 mins and she made about 6 saves lol

The first goal we conceded, she did 2 good saves, but the defenders were like statues, and were for most of the rest of the goals as well.  Really bad situational awareness at the back, and shows that the keeper cant save us from all of it.

...I  would suspect a bigger team than ourselves is going to pick her up!!!

She's probably not looking to be fighting relegation every season.

Chelsea playing Brighton now.

Could do with Brighton getting a hammering. Currently on the same GD as us (-25)

Just a 3-1 loss in the end.
