I moved to stop drunk teenagers diving over me as happened on one of the trials. Didn't really want to move as i sing!  From my new seat in sk3 the singing section was a huge disappointment, didnt live up to the amazing atmosphere they thought they were going to create, possibly because as expected some of the fans that moved just moved to stand not sing.  The club have been taken in by this and dont realise an atmosphere is spontaneous not orchestrated

Sorry but this is rubbish. I get that some creation of atmosphere is spontaneous (during good phases of play, goals etc.) but there must be some orchestration to fill the gaps. Otherwise you have 80 odd mins of silence, orchestration is exactly what is required.

As I commented in another thread, expecting the singing section to immediately get 30,000 people bouncing is delusional. It will take time to develop, so shooting it down after one game is jumping the gun a bit. Considering how bad the match was, the atmosphere I felt was decent. Was a bit flat towards the last quarter but I have seen much worse.

Give it time.

Is this not what the singing section said they could do create an atmosphere, you agree it was flat last quarter and yet you say my opinion is rubbish

My ST is in SK1, ‘not the actual section’ but close enough to not move hoping it will phase into my bit and hoping it will grow, however I was in hospitality today in the west stand so was looking forward to hearing how it sounded from there… and I must admit, could definitely hear it (albeit not the loudest) however it Just didn’t seem to transfer around the ground, or even across the KOP. It really seems people just can’t be arsed to sing and shout, and rather sit on there hands and whinge and groan when things aren’t going well. Can’t ever understand why people can’t just can’t behind the team and enjoy themselves.

But good effort all in the section, hopefully will start to transfer around the ground in the coming weeks

Didn't hear a thing all game to be honest.

Just about 20 guys jumping up and down, waving 2 black flags with the light blue sash on them.

Pretty embarrassing really, like the rest of the day.

You need to stop this bs mate, just not true at all

Couldn't hear much at all

Most of the sound came from L1 and Brentford's fans

Who's silly idea was a remote singing section away from away fans?

Pretty pathetic sadly

Was sat in C1 and although faint could hear the singing section.. to say it doesn’t transfer across the kop ain’t true. It does to a small point but then it goes out of sync with the singing section and goes quiet. The kop could be quite decent of an atmosphere, sadly I just think a lot of people can’t be bothered and would rather just sit there..

Not knocking the section whatsoever and believe it will grow, but if a decent atmosphere is to be created to a ground similar to anfield or United then it will need sk2, 3 and 4 rather than just a one block group of seats..

Never gonna change unless we do what palace did and let them move behind the goal. And the uproar caused by letting them have a corner, that ain't never gonna happen.

But thats the only way it spreads properly across the kop. Needs to spend from the middle out thar way it's more harmonious as you say. By the time it makes it so sk3/4 it's dropped off in 1 and something else has started up.

Hoping when we get to a sat 3pm or the late ko by man utd many more will have started to join in.

Sounded alright from the West Stand.

Sounded decent first half but tailed off with the performance i'd say.

Yes but not after one game. It's like a builder saying they'll build you a house and after one day you complain that he hasn't built it yet. Some things take time to develop.

The other point I disagree with is that atmosphere is all created spontaneously. It really isn't, some of it yes, but there is a lot of orchestration involved to get an atmosphere going. You just need to look around Europe, lots of examples where certain groups or people lead an atmosphere.

How are a group of supporters doing their very best to get behind the lads embarrassing? Who's embarrassed? Anyone who wanted to help out could have moved into the section to join in...

It didn't come across at all.

The thing that Palace have done with the Holmsdale end gets called cringeworthy.

Fair enough for trying, but it doesn't work.

I'll get pelters for it, but I don't care, the whole Union FS thing is just weird.

Why do you think it is weird? Are you against all the tifos they have created?

Serious question here, no trolling.

Why do your lot  always use other groups in Europe as a yard stick, you see it times in posts by the regular UFS posters on here whether it’s atmosphere/ standing etc.

We are not a club in another country with different cultures and fan followings, no club in England has someone with a mega phone chanting with his back to the pitch, but you always go on about European groups.

If that’s what you’re into, fine, crack on and go and join them but their culture will never happen here.

Is that why you never join in with chants started elsewhere in the ground? You here them start on the other side of the kop, they travel along and you start something else and I’ve heard the we can’t hear it because we are singing something else before excuse.

This happens at away grounds as well as for numerous seasons we were stood close by the UFS away followers, yes they’d start a lot and we’d all join in but if anyone else tried to get some chant going they’d stand in silence, it takes two to tango, you’re no greater than any other fan regardless of what you’re trying to achieve.

I had high expectations for this new area, I’m not part of it but only a block away and it wasn’t any different to when you were up nearer the top in the chants travelling.

Add in there’s always a new chant no sod knows the words to, keep it simple and one’s we all know and it should improve.
