It didn't come across at all.

The thing that Palace have done with the Holmsdale end gets called cringeworthy.

Fair enough for trying, but it doesn't work.

I'll get pelters for it, but I don't care, the whole Union FS thing is just weird.

But it's the first game it's been a thing, we need to give it time surely?

You can't just write it off after the first attempt lol

And who gives a shit about Palace and their fanatics,  let them do their thing and we'll do ours.

Why do you think it is weird? Are you against all the tifos they have created?

The last tifo was shite, let's be honest.

I don't doubt their commitment, but why is it all so forced?

"I'm a better fan than you because I sit in a singing section"

Bollocks.

We shouldn't need a singing section.

I don't care if people disagree, I really don't. It's cringeworthy.

No, it was at the end of last season when the singing section was first announced

I moved to stop drunk teenagers diving over me as happened on one of the trials. Didn't really want to move as i sing!  From my new seat in sk3 the singing section was a huge disappointment, didnt live up to the amazing atmosphere they thought they were going to create, possibly because as expected some of the fans that moved just moved to stand not sing.  The club have been taken in by this and dont realise an atmosphere is spontaneous not orchestrated

im in g block , and to be fair to them they sang the whole game, so maybe just give them a chance to create a atmosphere and who knows what might happen

Would like to know who says that? No one I have ever spoken to. Most people are happy to be able to share a space with likeminded people. The core people have wanted it for years and years and have pushed hard for it. It will help in the long run.

If you think we don't need a singing section, then let the other 28,000 or so know, those who are not interested in an atmosphere. If everyone was making noise this would never have been needed. Give it time to evolve and maybe lower some initial expectations. Personally, I think this was a good and needed move.

I also sit a block away and thought it was noticeably better than last season.

By no know means the finished article but certainly a step in the right direction and I’m sure that area will continue to grow and improve.

Really don’t get the negativity lol

I hope it does grow as I want the kop better myself but it didn’t sound any different in SK2 today.
In fact being lower down the sound doesn’t bounce off the roof as well as it has to travel further now.

Like I said I heard one song I’d never heard before so how are we supposed to sing along if they keep coming up with new chants weekly?

Can they issue song books and pop them under the seats for us old ones?

Would you rather sit in silence the entire game then? If there wasn’t an allocated singing section then the kp would be like a morgue. At least they are doing something about it..

that’s what football is all about, the atmosphere. Im afraid when you say it’s cringeworthy you would rather just sit there waving your flag for 90.. I think your in the minority there..

it’s a real shame that as it was pointed out in an earlier post that the sk1 couldn’t act as the central point with sk2 and g1 joining in..

Sorry but this is rubbish. I get that some creation of atmosphere is spontaneous (during good phases of play, goals etc.) but there must be some orchestration to fill the gaps. Otherwise you have 80 odd mins of silence, orchestration is exactly what is required.

As I commented in another thread, expecting the singing section to immediately get 30,000 people bouncing is delusional. It will take time to develop, so shooting it down after one game is jumping the gun a bit. Considering how bad the match was, the atmosphere I felt was decent. Was a bit flat towards the last quarter but I have seen much worse.

Give it time.

Well I spent many a year in the kop at filbert Street, and never at anytime was it orchestrated. It also wasn't bouncing  and singing for 90 minutes either. You seem to want some kind of singing utopia, where there is non stop singing and bouncing about, but it has never been and never will be like that. There will always be a lull during games. Its not a leicester thing, it's just how it has always been.  Today didn't seem any different to the last few seasons. Yes the singing section sang and jumped about a bit, but then the ones who have took up that area done that last season. The only difference is, instead of being spread across the back, they are now in one block going downwards, and taking more prominence, which is what they wanted.

Are they not posted on here on the new chants section? Posters usually post the original song with it.. I’ve been singing the Wesley fofana song in my head to Gerry cinnamons belter which someone posted which is awesome, however i don’t think it’ll take off. But people will soon say he hasn’t got a song ha. It’s all

about seeing them on here and learning them, not sure if people just generally don’t like doing that..

I wasn’t aware that we should all read a song thread on here and rehearse it all week so come match day we can chant it once or twice then it gets dropped for good, besides half the songs in their are dreadful and the melodies they’re related too are unknown songs a lot of the time.

My spare time is too important to be reciting songs all week thank you.

Add in who the feck is Gerry Cinnamons anyway? Never heard of him.

Serious question here, no trolling.

Why do your lot  always use other groups in Europe as a yard stick, you see it times in posts by the regular UFS posters on here whether it’s atmosphere/ standing etc.

We are not a club in another country with different cultures and fan followings, no club in England has someone with a mega phone chanting with his back to the pitch, but you always go on about European groups.

If that’s what you’re into, fine, crack on and go and join them but their culture will never happen here.

Is that why you never join in with chants started elsewhere in the ground? You here them start on the other side of the kop, they travel along and you start something else and I’ve heard the we can’t hear it because we are singing something else before excuse.

This happens at away grounds as well as for numerous seasons we were stood close by the UFS away followers, yes they’d start a lot and we’d all join in but if anyone else tried to get some chant going they’d stand in silence, it takes two to tango, you’re no greater than any other fan regardless of what you’re trying to achieve.

I had high expectations for this new area, I’m not part of it but only a block away and it wasn’t any different to when you were up nearer the top in the chants travelling.

Add in there’s always a new chant no sod knows the words to, keep it simple and one’s we all know and it should improve.

So much to answer in that post so please bear with as I try to cover it all.

"Your lot" is a bit weird. You seem to be grouping everyone who tries to make an atmosphere into the same group of people. I have not been in SK1 until this season but I like what "our lot" (I assume UFS is meant) have been doing and I back them.

Europe has great fan scenes, not always perfectly clean and safe, sure. But as far as backing teams go, they are up there. Why should we not look across borders to be inspired. If you like brewing beer for example, do you always stick to what is brewed here and what you know? Or do you take inspiration from elsewhere. If we didn't take inspiration from elsewhere, it would be very boring.

The same goes for new chants. Why would you not look to create something new. Of course, it takes a while for some to get going. And some never get going and subsequently fall away. But I respect anyone's creativity to come up with something new. Every game there is a good mix of chants, old, simple and new. If no one comes up with chants there would be none to sing.

There was plenty of times today where chants were started elsewhere and the front of the singing section (UFS and where I was stood) joined in. As long as it is heard, people join in. There really is no divide or arrogance there.

Judging by some comments, the section has changed the whole atmosphere (at least a bit). Please remember this is game 1, a lot of new people in the section, UFS working out the best way to manage it etc. Let it evolve over the season and see how it goes.

Hopefully that's covered your points. I hope people can get on board and back the team which is the main aim of this section and the people in it.

It feels as though a lot of people have taken it personally. They think that the people in the section believe no one else makes any noise and that they are superior to those. When that really isn't the case. I hope your views can be changed over the season and you start to enjoy the atmosphere at games.

I don't think it will be bouncing 90 mins, fully aware of that but some people think that is what the singing section does.

However, to try to shorten/remove the lulls, orchestration is needed. Unfortunately, the 80s/90s are gone. Premier League football has changed the demographic.

Maybe you could make suggestions on improving the atmosphere? You’ve said I’m missing the point but your first line is “because it’s just horrendous”..

Easier to just say something is shit and not elaborate. To critique is to actually think, and that is difficult for some.

On the songs and lyrics front, the European one stands out where it changed part way through the season. If you want others to join in why alter stuff? Keep it simple.

Best way to manage what? It’s a section for singing, what is there to manage? Are you telling fans where they can stand?

I hope it does take off and grow, but from today I didn’t see any difference.

Some people will never understand or like the ultra style support, it's innate, they won't change.  There's also a degree of jealously where they sit in silence watching fans actually doing something whilst they do nothing, they could never admit this of course.  So there will be plenty like Tom especially in England.  If you don't like it fair enough but at least they're doing something about the terrible atmosphere.  That alone deserves praise.

My take on it today from SK2 was much better The noise at the start was great and could not hear the Brentford fans until the

last twenty minutes

Plenty of noise from SK3 and it will get better. The stuttering and negative tactics on the pitch don’t assist but big improvement without the thrashing of cardboard Hope it continues and stop pulling our support apart need to stand together

I didn’t mean everyone must read the thread like a bible, however it’s got to be better than song sheets under your seat :D the fans would be slated even more than having the clappers..

Are you talking about changing "to the Europa League"  to "to Albania", and  "Johnny Evans at the back, Jamie Vardy in attack" to "Daniel Amartey at the back, Patson Daka in attack?"

If so it's because we got knocked out of the Europa League, and because Evans and Vardy were barely featuring through injury at that point.
