He's been there less than a week ffs.

he was recalled because he wasn't playing, loaning to a club that don't put him straight in is pointless, its a keeper he's not going to come on for 20 mins to settle in is he?

Question to Hartlepool should have been will he be playing from the first second he's available if the answer was no he should have stayed here and trained with us

You drop a keeper and yoir basically writing him off as not good enough for the season.

They still have to be fair to their own players for their development so for a new keeper to come in and put him in the team the next game is a massive vote of no confidence for the current keeper.

Only fair he has to impress in training and earn his place like everyone else surely?

He's less than a week into his loan at least judge it a few weeks in.

It may prove to be a good loan or a waste of time. Time will tell I guess but don't write it off yet.

they are slating their keeper as much as we slate Ward, imagine the reaction if we loaned in a keeper and didn't play him? More to the point I don't care about being fair to their players I care about our loan players not being played and wasting time, Iversen is the player he is because he played when on loan

The club need to start putting in a clause that makes loans more expensive to not play them like teams did to us in the past

Well that's all good in theory but people here complain that not enough of our youth players get loans. Start putting in ridiculous clauses and even less would take a chance on our players.

Clubs won't entertain the loan in the first place if this was the case.

And of course the fans are slating the keeper. They are down the table so keeper obviously is the first to blame.

Fans don't pick the team though.

dropping the established keeper is a big move, lets look at this again in a couple of weeks.

i’m with you on this. Two games in and he’s not in yet could be a worrying sign.

it’s much harder for a keeper to dislodge someone so there’s every chance this ends up another dead rubber.

Let’s see if he gets in next week

Whilst 3 players have changed loan clubs this month (Hirst, Nelson, Stolarczyk) it is going to be very disappointing if McAteer is the only “new” player to go out loan this month

We will actually have less players out on loan than we did in the first half of the season

I know you have to be careful in planning where to send your youngsters but are other clubs as bad as we are at finding loans? Or am I just being harsh? KDH, Chilwell, Barnes all had good loans but apart from that..

@The_Rorab did a great post in another thread where they went through and counted how many youth players other teams have out on loan

All but 3 teams have 10+ youth players out on loan (us, Spurs, Newcastle)

10 teams have 15+ youth players out on loan

Not sure I agree with @themightyfinretort to the grumblings around Jakub sitting on the bench again. I do get what he's saying about 'you can't just drop your keeper' but ultimately, he shouldn't be sent anywhere that doesn't currently have a no.1 slot (in Jan that's likely down to a team selling their no.1 or an injury)

It's a simple conversation for Huth in my opinion

"Do you need a starting goalkeeper"

"Yes"

"Excellent here he is"

Put simply, if there isn't a team in the 3 leagues looking for a starting keeper, then he might as well be our U21 No.1, at least they play every week.

This lad is supposed to be our biggest prospect, and we've blessed him with two League 2 bench warming shifts so far this season.

that probably was a conversation and they do… but no club will guarantee a starting spot, that belittles the manager. In truth we don’t even want that. they need to be good enough to take the spot. The hartlepool keeper is awful so if he can’t claim that, then he has no chance

i genuinely think brendan has no clue about keepers and his judgement on jakob being better than iversen is ridiculous.

The club knew that iversen was a huge talent and that’s why at one point he had our longest contract… he was literally brought in as a kasper re-gen. Yet the manager decided jakob is the one and not him.  Im yet to see anything at all showing that he will end up better than iversen

iversen will end up haunting us one day because eventually he will be playing i. the prem… and we’ll probably only get a few mill for him

i know i need to get over it, but i genuinely think our season would be completely different if we’d started with him

Cut the rest of your reply as I agree with all of it 100%

But on this point, just to clarify i'm not asking a club to guarantee a starting spot, i'm just saying he should only be offered to a club who has either just lost their number 1 to a bigger team, or lost them to an injury.

Whatever happens from that point on is up to Jakub, agreed. But he shouldn't be continually put in positions where a league 2 club is signing him as a back up first and foremost.

Completely agree, and I may be wrong but from what i heard, they were desperate for a new keeper. So the door is open and he really should be taking the spot, I don’t think in this case the club have sent him somewhere that had the intention to keep him on the bench.

Fingers crossed!

Got a friend who is a Hartlepool fan and he described their first choice as 'not too bad' which isn't quite as savage as some of the reviews of him on this page lol

I think the frustration on this one is just a build up of general frustration around our loan dealings to be fair lol
