Yay! We did a bit of transfer business! Good luck at Crewe - don’t know what they are like these days, but they used to be one of the best in the business for developing young talent. Some top, top players come through the ranks there.

They still are, maybe not recently as big players but the likes of Luke Murphy are recent graduates at Crewe. Good move for all involved.

Luke Murphy left initially like a decade ago, they've produced some players more recently playing at a higher level. Harry Pickering, Perry Ng, Ryan Wintle, Charlie Kirk and Owen Dale probably give a better indication it's still a good set up at Crewe.

I don't longer follow football fervently as I used to but is Dario Gradel still involved?

Hopefully can get a few good games under his belt between now and January,if he’s excelling there’s option to get him a league 1 or championship.

hoping he can get a few goals/assists too.

Hmm, would have thought he could cut it at a L1 or maybe even a Championship side

If he starts every week it’s still a good move IMO. Hopes are high for him though.

I can't see a Championship side going in strong for an 18-year-old development player without a single senior appearance at CB, tbf. I'd rather he play in a League 2 side that needed its defense shoring up than warming his posterior on a plank of wood every week because some Championship club was filling out its squad.

I do think reputationally we are still not there yet with our academy and it's a work in progress. We've 3 players in the England U18 team, one of which is captain, 1 in the U17's, 1 in the U20's and 1 in the U21's. The same players in those squads at the likes of Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea etc walk in to Championship and League One loans.

But they also often have a couple of senior appearances before their loans, even if its off the bench in a cup tie or dead rubber European tie. I think if Nelson had made some appearances last season when he was on the bench, a League One move would have been an easier sell. Again, he is only 17 in football years (gotta love those March birthdays) and a CB, so any regular senior football would be great.

True, we haven't helped ourselves with our reluctance to give him or Braybrooke any senior football despite being on the bench loads.

Trey Nyoni could well be as mesmerising with his feet as Alves. His latest insta clips vs Malmo are ridiculous hahahaa

Why not just give game time to alves?

A prophet is never recognised in his own town?

He will get game time in the next 12 months IMO.

Five subs should hopefully see him on the bench, especially if we are still trying to push people out the door in January. (I can see a few getting the Gray treatment if they don't find a move).
