Yep. Anderson who usually plays in the centre of the 3 CBs was injured for the Barrow game. Rowe who came in for him is heavily left footed so Nelson, being two footed, was moved to the centre. Anderson is out for the next couple of games I think so we're likely to see Nelson playing in the centre till he's back.

I only mention it being interesting as it is good to see him doing so well in what will effectively be played as 2 completely different roles in back to back games

Also because, as @Ric Flair mentioned, we have previously seen him struggle in that wide left centre back role

Went to watch Wimbledon v Hartlepool yesterday. Was hoping to see a bit of McAteer but as the above he got about 10 mins pitch time. Played right mid and did ok. Probably should have done better with a shot and the cross for the equaliser came from his side but overall 6/10 is fair. I was in row B and he spent most of the game doing a pretty half arsed warm up 2m in front of me!

Yeah the Hartlepool fans celebrated like they’d won the league! Good free kick and then a very late header from a player 5’6” isn’t good enough. Good day out overall.

LB?! lol

I'm guessing Sema is actually LB and Hamza is CM.

Really no surprise to see Albrighton struggling in the Championship. He's just not a very good player, who I'm not convinced would get into double figures for goals per season as far down as League two. He's a microcosm of why we've declined in recent years, we've allowed poor players to remain for longer than they should.

Fans confuse 'Running around and getting stuck in' as a positive, when in fact, it's the actions of a player who's clueless to where they should be. Contrast to Kristiansen, for example, who has been up and down that left flank all game, in good defensive and attacking positions.

I think it was more down to our keeper trying one pass too many but overall was a mess.

Albringhton has been a good solid player but maybe too slow for this level now?

I know our fans would have had a fit had we signed him at 33.

Some of them think 29 is past it!

Curious as to Hamza's future here, out of contract in the summer and likely to be moved on. There's elements to Hamza's game which Rodgers himself probably admires (a key one being his pressing) but ultimately it's about the complete package. It'll be interesting to see how he develops and does in the future (while BR is manager you would assume his future isn't at LCFC).

he signed a new deal before his loan. But primarily that was so we could attach a buy clause to watford.

It would be very surprising if they didn’t activate it.  I might be wrong but i think the number thrown around was only about 6m.

Ah fair enough, even if Watford decide against a permanent deal Hamza will for sure have suitors at that kind of price. Also depends of course how the remainder of his loan goes this season.
