How have we ended up with a squad so short of premier league level players? Only ones I think I can genuinely say are at the level now:

Castagne

Faes

Evans (but only just)

Soyuncu (but on his way out)

KDH

Ndidi (but Rodgers seems to dislike him now)

Tielemans (but on his way out)

Maddison (but on his way out)

Barnes

Vardy (but only just)

Justin (but always injured)

Ricardo (but always injured)

Iheanacho (debatable)

Daka (VERY debatable)

Cant think of any others.

The only thing I can think of is it’s all gone.  Bit stale at our club. The feel good factor has gone. We have so many great amenities but it only spoils and comforts poor behaviour. Players are only mirroring the uncertainty of our manager.

just really hate the place we are in right now. Sure it can always be worse and that maybe a possibility if the club doesn’t sort this mess out. On a Better day we would have mauled Newcastle on our home patch! It’s looking more and more like a BIG shake up is needed from top to bottom. Makes me envious to seeing clubs like Liverpool blooding academy prospects to great effect.

Nacho should play more. Daka isn’t even debatable, he shouldn’t be in the PL

overly negative post.

yes perhaps we have too many average / bottom half prem standard players, but let's not overreact.

Who have I missed then/ underrated in my list of players?

I still believe that Brendan is still wanting away. I think the 10% the team has lost still sits on his shoulders.

The problem is the longer this is allowed to go on, the worse things will get. Everything is a bit stale at the moment.

This is largely the same squad that was competing for CL spots in 2 of the previous 3 seasons.

Now they’re hardly PL quality? I’m not buying it.

A new manager sharpens everybody up and arrests the complacency.

It is, but we had an elite level standard striker in Vardy for 19/20 and 20/21, who has declined due to father time and a top PL keeper in Kasper. Arguably the best two players to play for LCFC in there respective positions.

I'd also stick Jonny Evans in a player who could have played for any of the top 6 in those seasons, who is another player who has just gone over the hill. Losing Ricardo who I'd regard as one of the best PL RB to consistent injury has also been a massive blow.

I agree we should be doing better and a new manager could improve us, and out squad should be top 10, but go back to 19/20 and 20/21 and take out Vardy, Evans, Kasper do we still get top 5?

What’s your barometer for quality? Think you’re being too kind on KDH and Iheanacho proves his quality when he gets chances. Agree with many of the others though.

How many times have I read , we should beat these with our squad. We are nothing like as good as some believe nor are we anything like as bad either. We have a very limited budget and given that , we do a bit better than you would expect.

On the flip side, Barnes, Tielemans and Maddison are much better players.

Faes is better than Soyuncu, Castagne was better than Chilwell was for us.

We are slightly weaker than what we were but that should translate to being a 6th-8th type team, not mid table or worse.

We superior players to Newcastle yet Howe’s got them playing better than the sum of their parts.

Rodgers isn’t the right man, the cycle of this squad is coming to an end and it’s better to breathe a bit of life into it sooner.

Thing that makes me laugh is the ones that don't want to be here obviously think they're better than us, yet had CL on a plate 2 years running, threw it away, treated EL and ECL with contempt and are now in a lower half/relegation battle. Are you really better than us lads? Really?

Try applying yourselves first based on yesterdays showing.

If you don’t continually improve you stagnate, every team even the likes of Liverpool and Man City need fresh faces to add new ideas etc, we’ve had more or less the same team for 3 years now and our best players in that time are either too old, have moved on or are soon to be out of contract. The players we have brought in have been nowhere close apart from maybe Faes but long term not convinced if he’ll be the standard Fofana/Evans were.

I will give you Maddison is better.

I would say Barnes and Tielemans are about on par.

Faes is on par with Soyuncu, os Amartey as good as Evans?

Would Chelsea fans swap Chilwell for Castange? Problem is we have one good full back with both Ricardo and Justin injured.

Ward as good as prime Kasper?

Botman, Trippier, Pope and Guimaraes walk into our team.

I'm not disagreeing Rodgers isn't the right man, but the squad does need a overhaul whoever is in charge.

We should be in the battle for as you say for 6th, 7th or 8th with everyone fit.

Players who would get into most top 10 Premier League sides I guess. I don’t think a lot of our squad do now. KDH is a strange one- he’s looked class in some games (particularly last season) but I do know what you mean. I quite like Iheanacho but not a single Manager has fancied him here really.

It is, but it also isn't.

We've got too many of those same players looking at the exit (Maddison, Tielemans, Soyuncu), with no change in manager going to solve that. We've got others coming to the end of their careers (Vardy and Evans), we've already lost a few players from said squads to bigger teams (Chilwell, Fofana), we've got another bunch totally ruined by injuries (Ricardo, Justin, maybe even Ndidi)... and then lastly another bunch all out of contract and not wanted (Amartey, Mendy etc).

The names may be the same, but it's not the same team physically or mentally. A new manager might sharpen things up, but there is a massive undertaking ahead in terms of squad alterations.
