Genuine question - Do such YouTube users get paid for doing this sort of thing?

There seems to be a lot of like him around in stadiums videoing himself and uploading it.

I think you need a minimum of 1000 subscribers before you can monetize a YouTube channel.

Then as guest123 says, you get paid based on number of views etc. and if YT then decide to place adverts in your content.

I'd be surprised if Jack and all the other 'creators' who vlog at games make enough money for it to be a full time job. I imagine most just do it for the love.

I think you need hundreds of thousands of subscribers to make proper money out of YT.

You can make enough money to make a living on 50k subscribers (around £30k per year I think). One of the guys I watch who does stealth camping left his factory job a few months ago when he was on around 50k.

I remember looking a while back how much someone with 1 million subscribers earns and it's around £700k per year.

We used to do that with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake. His goal music was always Baby Give It Up by KC & The Sunshine Band, just so the fans could sing his name to the chorus.

It was good tbf but it was only one player they did it for.

Newcastle play the song that relates to the chant for their goalscorer/best player at the end of the game. We did it a few times last season with Voulez Vous for Fatawu, Waka-Waka for Daka or Wonderwall for KDH.

Think it's a good thing. But not for goal music.

Southampton’s new safe standing end looks great.

I was looking at it on Saturday thinking why can't we install it all across SK1-4?

I can't imagine it would cost that much or take that long to put in and I reckon it would make a massive difference to the atmosphere at the KP.

Be the first mass sitting in a standing area in the uk

I think it’ll end up going along the top half of the KOP. Potentially down to the singing section. No way they’ll do what Southampton have done. I think what’s made it easier for Southampton is they had away fans in half that stand anyway that stood and then another 25% were standing Southampton fans next to it behind the goal. So it’s not a monumental change for them. Whereas us, because it’s all sitting, the club will be too scared to upset people.

Hope the dribbling suits at the KP don't get any funny ideas from Southampton's player-tailored goal music.

Wasn't that something that was encouraged during the behind closed doors games in the pandemic?

We did it after Bournemouth, but of course Facundo doesn't have a song, so they just defaulted to "Vardy's On Fire" and "Fata-wu". Felt proper weird at the time considering neither were really very involved in the win.

Worked last season when they put some actual thought into it, and could do again, but like i said, weird vibes when it's players who didn't really do much for the final result. I don't really expect much deeper thought processes from the folks currently responsible for the "matchday experience" mind you.

With proper engagement I think we would get decent numbers standing but, as you say, we approach it the wrong way.

There's obviously certain aspects that myself and many others don't like about home matchdays, but there's also decent elements as well. Saturday made me realise that more, and made me even more glad we don't have goal music.

Sounded bloody awful, honestly the most cringy thing.

The goal music for their first goal was bad enough, then for the second it was even worse. Still, would say Southampton have more about them than Brighton or Bournemouth, even if all three clubs do have an underlying soft mentality.

For the 2nd goal a large percentage of the Southampton fans sang along to Gold which just seemed a bit bizarre - there again they're not used to scoring a goal in a game never mind 2.

I genuinely don't understand what you mean by this, or how you come to this conclusion.

You can’t put rails in front of seats that people actually own.

Some people in the kop have owned their seat since 1884.

Nobody owns a seat.

On the topic of great scenes, this might be a weird one but people talk about our away ends and how you can always notice people sitting towards the front, older fans etc. The forest away game a few years ago where we ended up losing in the league. Just watching the highlights now and have a look at Barnes miss right in front of the away end. Everyone standing, looks like it had the opportunity to absolutely go off there. Hope it's the same this season.

None of those clubs will ever be put under any serious demands by their supporters in the same way that Everton do. I assume that's what they meant.

That makes sense, at the very least.
