Was genuinely a bit emotional listening to Jake saying he is leaving whilst driving to work earlier. Best pod I listen to by a mile! Look forward to the continued work of Rick, Jord and Godders and hope Jake is back again one day!

Have really enjoyed the pod and massively appreciated the efforts of the boys since discovering it a couple of years back. But I do feel they need to be wary of one thing, particularly with Jake now leaving.

 

Most episodes inevitably revolve around discussing the previous result (as you'd expect). But increasingly it sounds like a declining number of the BSLB actually go to or even watch the games.

 

Now I totally get that under the current regime. It's understandable, probably even very sensible. There are loads of valid reasons not to go. Life and family can get in the way.  Finances might now allow it. You may simply be too depressed after watching the slow-motion car-crash of mismanagement in recent years (the wasted potential,  the kamikaze decisions, Harry Winks etc).

 

But not watching the game does become problematic if you're hosting a topical weekly podcast about your team. If you don't watch the game or are only talking about it on the basis of watching the extended highlights (as one of the guys said in the last episode), you can't give a properly informed opinion on it.   As a Foxile who lives on the other side of the world and can only watch the games on TV, a big part of the reason I listen to the BSLB is that I want to hear about what's really happening with my team from people who know what they're talking about and closer to the action. I suspect there are lots more like me.

 

Hopefully, it's just a minor blip and the rejigged pod team soon bed down just like our new look midfield. Which I guess means that Goddars has to be Lundstrum, adding a bit of nous and much-needed steel.

I take your point, but with regards to this (as it references specifically that one of us didn't watch the game), I didn't watch the game this weekend as I was doing an Ultra marathon which I explained at the start of the pod. That's also why you hear more from @Ric Flair and Godders this week who both watched the game to give a more informed opinion on it as I couldn't provide that.

In the rare instance none of us can watch the game (I don't think this has ever happened), we don't actually do a pod. 

I've watched every other league game this season and in 2026, other than Blackburn as we were already relegated and I wasn't wasting my time on a meaningless fixture with a bunch of dossers playing for us. 

Prior to my self-imposed refusal to attend matches due to the ownership, I would say I have attended at least 95% of games for the past 15-20 years. Ric and Godders are similar, so I don't think this is likely to be a problem...

Another cracking pod as always. Really sad to hear the news Jake is leaving, he has been a brilliant presenter. Good luck with your new venture hope all goes well.

It surprised me how sad I felt when I heard that Jake was leaving. The lads aren’t my mates, but it somehow feels like that they are. This isn’t really a place for emotions and I know that sometimes people over express them for attention, but I wanted to briefly mention something, purely as it adds strong context to what I wanted to say.

 

We all live with the possibility that life can change forever, overnight. That happened to my daughter. The trauma of that and the ongoing practicalities of accepting a ‘new normal’ has taken over a decade to work through and is still ongoing. She is still very ill and 99% bedbound at 18 years old.

Following Leicester is my one escape. Time wise, choosing to do this means there isn’t time to do anything else, apart from work. You might think I enjoy trauma saying it’s my escape, but it is. Match day traditions help keep me sane and the paradox between feeling the identity and belonging of being a Leicester fan deep within still, despite the team, club and owner making me feel the exact opposite mostly, is very real.
Although the BSLB pod isn’t obviously on a match day, I consider it one of my few important traditions. It’s the LCFC pod I most relate to and connect with and the only one I listen to now. I still remember the much needed therapy it gave me after Leeds away, the season we won The Championship under Maresca. At that time it was the worst I’d felt after a game for years.
It’s like listening to mates chatting in the pub after games, helping to process everything on and off the pitch.

 

Although it’s rightly been a general theme recently with everyone thanking Jake, I just wanted to encourage Jord, Rick and Godders, as it must feel very strange. It’s just a new ‘Holy Trinity’ or ‘Unholy Trinity’ carrying the pod forwards and will become and feel the new normal soon enough. You all have unique gifts, so just bring who you genuinely are and it will remain authentic. No one should be expecting it to be a copy of the exact same chemistry.

 

Finally, often people are never as popular as when they leave somewhere on good terms. It shouldn’t need that for people to be thanked for what they do. I’m glad it’s given me a chance to say thanks though. Your work is much appreciated and will make a difference to others in many ways that you may never get to know.
‘Football isn’t important in the scheme of things’ is an often used comment. The truth though, in many different circumstances,  is that it really is.

Good post mate, I think with all the shite surrounding the club the podcasts and YouTube channels (BTG for example) have offered a way to have rational almost therapy like space to compartmentalize the nonsense. But the BSLB pod has been especially good and is an essential listen.

While Jake is a superb media trained host, Jord and @Ric Flair have their own unique personalities that shine strong and Godders is a good addition.

I definitely think Dominic Wells would be a good reoccurring guest to have on @Ric Flair !
