The thing is if we're rubbish from just being rubbish I can accept that. I used to happily do a 400 mile round trip with low expectations during those mundane championship years, I still had some connection to the club. The players were trying their hardest but they were just rubbish.

It feels different this time, like it's self sabotage. Crazy times for the club.

He was so OTT. Trying his hardest to be the big man to our lot, whilst the people around him looked embarrassed. Doing the Newport Helicopter at full time 😂😂😂

I agree. We've been through many years where the standard of play was poor (the Pleat years spring to mind) but I never felt like I do now. You went not expecting too much but you at least knew the players would put up a fight. But the dismal spiraling out of control from a club on the fringes of European qualification to one that looks near on certainties to be relegated, if current form continues, and the ongoing lack of new investment in players strikes me as something really beyond just inefficiency.

What was he up to?

Letting out the pain and anger of being bossed around at a boring 9-5 and posting on his burner twitter account called ‘Gibbs-WhiteSZN’, probably

Spot on. I think this must come from increasing expectations though.

As you say, when we were naff, it was great when we got an unexpected win. And they were teams you could warm to. We just didn’t expect them to do much so when they did, it was great.

Now, we have a bunch of overpaid primadonnas who are so far removed from ‘the fans’ that I can’t warm to any of them. And if our wage bill is to be believed, for some of the rubbish we have, it’s obscene really.

The good times are ending. I think we need to now come to terms with this. Even if we stay up, we’ll lose Maddison and Tielemans in the summer, probably re-sign Amartey on a five year contract abd 50k per week, and sign some obscure players from Europe that can’t come to terms with the pace of the Premiership.

I’d genuinely have no qualms about being relegated, getting in a tougher manager and rebuilding.
